Legal supplements to put on muscle....

As there are a few topics on here recently I thought I'd ask what supplements you would recommend to putting on some muscle. I'm a HW and want to add about 6lbs o muscle.

I lift weights etc and feel I have hit a wall in growth. I'm careful with my diet and hit the protein shakes. But is there anything else (legally) I could add to my training that would help with growth.

I have heard SARMs and HGH used in topics recently, I know nothing about them or if they are legal in our sport. I'd be keen to hear your thoughts.

Please don't come back and say, train harder/eat more chicken/protein. This is not what I'm after or the point of this thread. Cheers for now!

HGH isnt legal, it can be prescribed i believe for those who medically need it, but id suggest as a heavyweight thats probably not the case lol.

You mention you are HW, but are you a HW amateur/pro boxer? Any list of what is legal will differ depending on whether you are asking legal to use in the country, or legal to use in the sport.

Buy some British milk and grass fed British beef and train hard. Ignore the marketeers and their gullible disciples.

Some over the counter protein shakes contain ingredients on WADA's prohibited /banned list. So do a lot of other supplements readily available in Beanfreaks.

There are no short cuts to putting on muscle. Even users of banned substances have to put the graft in.

Like a previous poster said, a healthy, balanced diet, plenty of sleep and rest and train hard is the best and cheapest way.

If you do want to use legal supplements its your responsibility to go through each of the ingredients listed on the tub and cross reference it with the items on the banned list.

It is tough to say because so many everyday supplements might contain some obscure ingredient that you have never heard of that could be on the banned list.

You will have to do a bit of research before taking anything that may be borderline if you don't want to risk getting caught out. In the meantime, Steak, Chicken, fish and lots of gurning at the gym might have to suffice.

Good luck.

No they don't. Protein is protein. You mean over the counter supplements in general, not protein shakes. It is normally or most commonly issues with pre workout stuff.

As to the question, forget all this chicken and protein nonsense, protein shakes are quick and easy way to get protein in and it is faster digested.

It really is as simple as training hard and following a smart diet. Glutamine, creatine etc will help but really alot of the stuff promising mass gains is all marketing bollocks

I don't think that the stuff the top level athletes are taking can be purchased from the divvie at your local gym.

A lot of the supplements they take may be legal in the sense that they have not yet been made illegal (eg. Sharapova) or that they also taking equally sophisticated masking agents so that any test is worthless.

Nutrisport pro 90 protein shake contains a precursor which is banned on the wada list. So are others. Particularly the ones you buy in independent supplement shops that are often made in the same factory.

In that case, i withdraw my comment earlier about protein shakes being safe, that stuff is total shite and so is the company. Cross contamination in several instances. I had some BCAA from them and they then turned out to have cross contaminated DMAA with the product. They announced the recall two nights before I was competing in a tested show. I had an anxious wait to see if my natural status had been lost, turned out my batch was clear. Nearly forgave them until they announced an issue with egg whites a short time later.

I use bulkpowders, they are much much better. DeGale is a sponsored athlete with them :TU:

Ahh junk food is far too nice, damn lol

I last competed in 2013, got a second place and qualification for the British Finals but had had enough of dieting so did not do the finals. Currently prepping for a show in August, if I can keep the diet clean which is proving a challenge!

Not much more I can say mate. The BCAA issue was June 2012, a press release went out saying that some batches had an illegal dose of DMAA in it, which is the thing used in Jack 3D, also called methylhexanamine or geranium extract it was being used by some girl who died running the London Marathon and that was listed as a contributing factor. The military banned it then it was completely banned. Feck knows how it got into their Branch Chain Aminos.

Then as said, they had an issue with egg whites which had salmonella. I had to throw that away too obviously. Found their customer service bloody awful when dealing with it. The DMAA issue really caused me a problem. Press release went out on Friday afternoon, I was competing Sunday. I was up all night worrying, they could not confirm my batch was clear until the Saturday and by then, with no sleep, stress and not being able to concentrate on the final couple days carb load, water manipulation etc, I just totally naused up the show and came third, feeling and looking like a bag of shite
