Eric Hunter lodges appeal against Saturday's points defeat

Just Reading that Eric and his team have lodged a complaint with the IBF citing the points deduction and judges scoring of the bout as his reasons. He goes on to say it was a 'fix up'. Sour grapes or does he have a point? I thought McDonnell was a tad harsh on him with all the warnings and deduction but I still had Selby winning the fight.

He lost clearly.

What a whiner.

Clearly lost.

Mcdonnell was harsh but didn't effect the result.
The reason he didn't win was he has shambolic workrate.

He lost the fight fair and square, scoring was fair, point deduction was fair. Ref was a bit harsh but every indication is that Hunter is an irritating little c**t and it was probably down to his own bad attitude that Mcdonnell gave him a hard time, rather than it being a fix.

'Irritating little pudendum'. I like that :TU: The correct guy won the fight. Hunter only has himself to blame for all his posturing and lack of work. He let the fight slip away. Obviously a talented fighter and had Selby hurt but he didn't put in the work.

He seemed to have that opinion from the first bell!

Should have done more IMO

The right man won, end of story for me

Whining little git

Eric Hunter at Starbucks "Hey, why is her coffee bigger than mine"
"Because she paid for a large coffee"
"I wanna large coffee"
"You'll have to pay more then"
"I don't wanna pay more, I just wanna bigger coffee. This is so unfair. I HATE you"
Door slams, Eric storms off in tears, waving his arms.

Let it slip away in the second half for me, I had Hunter marginally ahead at half way but Selby stepped up in the championship rounds.

Hunter is pretty pathetic. Clearly a guy who always looks to blame someone else when he loses. He just couldn't be arsed to throw enough punches to win. When he did have his foot on the gas, he

He's got zero chance of winning an appeal, unless he's got dirt on the commissioners.

Precisely. Gave the impression of feeling hard done by all the time, constantly moaning to his corner, the ref, and anybody else who cared to look his way.

He'll be one of those guys blathering on about how he should have been world champ long after retirement, convincing people boxing stinks and but for the terrible corruption he'd have been the next Floyd Mayweather.

Fact is, he's actually not as good as he think he is. Sure, he looks cute in spurts, but part of the reason he doesn't throw many, is not just laziness, but the fact he's not as good defensively as he likes to give the appearance of being. He eat the lead right hand countless times during the fight. Reminded me of Howard Eastman, but not as good.

Think he even called Selby a whiner. Which is just incredible considering he literally looked on the verge of throwing a tantrum every time the referee spoke to him.

So he's citing point deductions and the judges scores...

Basically appealing the fact that he lost because the judges though the other man won?

I'm a little surprised he's 29. I'd have thought he was a bit younger to have such feelings of entitlement.

"I should have won because I wanted to win! You're infringing on my rights!"

I thought the point deduction was unfair, he wasn't particularly low and the ref was picking on him a bit as the away fighter. That being said, his attitude clearly is all wrong and he still lost the fight fair and square, took plenty of clean punches and Selby had the far higher work rate and I would suggest many more punches landed as well.

The ref was a joke Selby trunks are worn high the punch that the ref took the point for was borderline Hunter lost the fight because of a poor work rate and Selby wanting it more a better ref might have helped Hunter a bit but it was Selby fighting ability and Hunters poor work rate that was the final nail in his coffin so to speak...... shocking ref.... atleast the appeal will put some light on the 3rd man in the ring he [the ref] carried on like a child when Hunter wouldn't stand next to him while the winner was announced waving his hands around and all the pointing I wouldn't have stood next to him either.

Can anyone really see Hunter forking up $20,000 to the IBF for an appeal? A bad loser, whose whining is being induldged

I'm sure Hunter is disappointed but he's making a bit of a fool of himself here.

It's hardly worth discussing the points deductions as he could have been docked five points and it would still have not been the decisive factor.

Although for what its worth having been given several warnings including a final one and then coming up with a clear low blow, I saw nothing controversial about the points deduction.

And I've read Hunter claim that Selby's shorts were high but they were clearly no higher then Hunter's.

The final irony is Hunter calling Selby a cry baby which is hilarious really.

It was a little harsh, I agree, however, the reason Hunter lost, is he fought 20 seconds of each round in 10 of the 12 rounds.

Selby did a little more almost every round and deserved the win. However, Hunter was repeatedly warned and then penalized for low blows, although most of the shots did not appear low, while Selby was allowed to hold excessively at times. I don't see any grounds for him appealing the decision itself, but have no problem with him speaking out about the biased reffing.
