Outside of the ring Spence needs to step it up! Promote himself! I mean damn he makes Andre Ward's personality seem intriguing at least Ward

prophets & talks with wisdom and call the public hyprocrites COME ON SPENCE! He makes up for it inside the ring yes he does but no matter

how good he is he will never be PPV King. Spence's persona makes Ward's really stand out!

He's a much more exciting fighter to watch. You don't have to behave like a jackass to draw a crowd. If you're a fun fighter to watch you'll draw a crowd that way too.

I disagree! Ray Leonard, Hagler, and Hearns all had charisma! ALL 3 OF THEM! Sugar Ray would talk the smooth talk, Thomas Hearns

would give his foes that "Stare" & Hagler would take you on a spiritual motivating voyage how he was destined to be the best! Manny Pac gets

away with it because he's so explosive inside of the ring and has an insane Filipino fanbase Spence doesn't call anybody out, his staredowns

and bland, he's just too damn nice. A great persona helps that's for sure!

correct. spence boring on another level. but i dont care much, he is entertaining inside the ring, thats what matters.

Boring because he is honest? He basically talks very confidently, but recognizes the fact that he needs to prove himself against the best. He wants to fight the best, and is willing to go anywhere in the world to fight. Yeah, I guess that is pretty sad, huh?

It's show business my friend. Nobody would want to watch 2 robots compete. For the most part to you become a fan of a fighter for... their nationality? Style? personality?

So what if its fighter with no personality. There's some that do. So whats the point if you don't like him try someone else. Not everyone has the total package.

When fighters such as Pacquiao, Hopkins, Fury, or Mayweather insult people or groups, some complain.

Then when they keep their mouth's shut, they're "Boring." You're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I know it sounds kind of strange but I watch boxers for their performance in the ring, not on the mike.

When I go to a rock concert I'm not looking for the rock star to greet us, I'm looking for them to play music. Strange, I know.

I don't think he's dull at all. I've only had brief interactions with him, but I certainly wasn't bored.

Is GGG's persona exciting?
Is Manny's persona exciting?
Is Cotto's persona exciting?

So the persona of guys who can't speak English and just nod and smile is more tolerable to you than a laid back black guy?

I just saw Spence look like a mix between a young Cotto/Floyd and straight up destroy a guy.
If Spence were Puerto Rican or Mexican, we'd be talking about boxing's next superstar.
But, because he's just black, he has to do more for some reason.

in between fights even in his prime which made his mainstream star power go insane! Same with Floyd always in the news in between his fights

Actually, I would like to see Cotto vs Spence. Let's see whose body punches are more effective.

Some fighters have a naturally exciting persona, some don't
Hatton was likeable and Mayweather mastered the bad guy persona, he's a bit of a dick and doesn't mind letting people know that.
But it was their own personality, not a fabricated manufactured one.

When guys pretend to be a nice guy, because that's what they're media training tells them or plays the bad guy because they think it'll hype a fight, when that is not really who they are, it shines through and the fans see it as the act it is.

These guys are trained to fight not act, not play a part.
And fans see that.

If you are a good guy like Manny or GGG just be that person and if you are a total asshat like Broner, just run with what you have.
But when Bellew tries to act the big man or Tyson Fury tips tables and runs about dressed like Batman you just think "what an arse"

No. Spence comes across as a good man.

A big mouth like Fury or bad character like some others doesn't make someone charismatic.

And Spence is much more exciting in the ring than Andre Ward, who has a style similar to Marcus Browne.

I think Spence should just let his fist do the talking, he doesn't need to be one of these Drama Kings like Tyson or Broner. Hell, Tyson didn't even need be a Drama King; back in his day he was knocking fighters out and garnered all of his publicity doing that long before he got into all this Soap Opera nonsense that made him famous for all the wrong reasons.

Spence is a young family man who is a highly technically skilled fighter and without a doubt one of the most avoided fighters in the game today.
