Well I have and its your fault!

Gross Misconduct relating to a total of 80 hours (working hours i might add!) spent viewing boxing sites - not bad going when you considered they only monitored a one month period and I only worked 35 hours a week.

Positives include - three months suspension on full pay (allowing me time and wedge to set up new business!) and having a new job.

Negatives include - not having regular access to the net & wife's face when I put any boxing on TV.

Thought I'd post this for a couple of reasons:

1. As a warning to all other (former in my case) desk-bound types.

2. So you can all have a fornicating good laugh!

Yes, I find it incredible that more posters on here don't get sacked (not that I want them to). See how the site traffic comes to a standstill at the weekends...

Saddest of all is how much I missed the sites when I didn't have access - it's like an addiction!

New job is already making me wonder how I lasted as long as I did in the last one!

Put simply NO.

Slightly more seriously - I met and exceeded all targets for the period! But then I was working for the government, so the targets were things like - "did you wear a nasty cardigan to work?" and "drink a minimum of 10 cups of tea a day".

I was having a right chuckle when I heard about the proposed cuts to the civil service (for whom I sort of worked) - I have saved them (and all of you I suppose) from one lot of redundancy money!!

Yes, I think you will find that there are a number of 'public sector' workers on here, myself included.

I have to say, public sector workers get away with bloody murder.

Interestingly, they were talking about bringing in new legislation to investigate why it is that public sector workers on average take 2 more days a year off sick. The unions immediately went ballistic, not surprisingly, half their members would be under investigation.

I work in the NHS, and people always wonder where all the money goes, and it's on temporary staff (like me), who cost them a fortune, and hiring endless levels of management on ridiculous salaries, who they hire from the blue-chip companies, and who know absolutely nothing about the everyday running of a hospital. It's a bleedin' joke.

This site is particularly addictive, I find myself flicking back and forth constantly to see if any of the threads have been updated. Sad really.

Just to illustrate my point - my tribunal was put back two months (earning me another £4k of their money for setting up my new business!!) because the personnell bod & one of the senior managers were on long term sickness leave - hows that for efficiency!

The director of the hospital I work at, was on sick leave for almost a full year on fully pay, and the decided to leave the job!

Shocking isn't it, but then again, isn't that the leisurely pace of life we should all enjoy, I guess the trade off is, you are never going to get rich working in the public sector, unless you are in the higher eschelons of management, and strangely, a lot of those people are actually quite overworked, a strange irony, because in the private sector, the top management do fornicate all except attend board meetings, play golf, and jiggle shares around.

We my average working week has been exactly zero for months (unemployed) but now I have found a job, and start Monday.

35 hours a week = 140 hours a month. So that's 80 hours out of 140 hours = 57% of your paid working day on boxing websites

Exactly. Think of this 35 working hours a week, thats 70 in two weeks, and you spend 80 hours on a boxing website. More then two working weeks in a month u spend on that website????

Take out all the management in most companies and the place would still keep going, albeit coughing and spluttering. Take out every single worker and..........who is collecively more important?

In education, where I have spent most of my working life, almost all managers are there because they: a) are shite in the classroom b) can't do anything else.

They are useless and absolutely ache to get out of the classroom and into the comfort of the office where they end up telling you how to do a job they were incompetent at.

Prime example - former Chief Inspector of Schools Chris Woodhead. I've spoken to several of his former colleagues and the general consensus is that he was totally inept as a teacher. As well as the well documented inappropriate relationship he had with one of his charges.

In short, fornicate managers.

Don't worry about it Lugh. Bet it was crap working there anyway - and better to be sacked than to leave. No dole if you leave. Dole straightaway if you're sacked.

Middle managers are in my experience the biggest waste of space. Their job often seems to be to interfere and scrutinize other people's work, and shovel the shit downhill from upper mana

They often seem to be living 'charismectomies,' people with no people skills, who believe that a managers job is to be as odious and unpleasant to their subordinates, and to 'motivate' them by giving them a dressing down whenever something isn't up to scratch.

However, the single most important function they carry out is to suck the cock of their immediate boss, and to find ways to blame the lowest level of worker, i.e the people who actually produce everything any time somthing goes wrong, and ensure that the management are kept informed of every fornicate up.

An interesting side note.

I forget the guy's name, but he wrote a book on this, there was an American businessman who found that no matter what he tried he could not up productivity at his factory, so he decided to experiment.

He decided to put this to his workers, and allowed them to set their own wage levels, and to make company decisions which affected them directly, to set their own workload and patterns, and to change roles every few months. He also gave them all profit share incentives, and the best workers were appointed to the board. Far from running his company into the ground, productivity skyrocketed, and the workers actually worked harder, and set realistic levels of pay. Within 3 years the companies productivity had quadrupled, and profits increased 500%!

I just leave mine on and check from time to time - lunchtines and hometimes !

You never get "sacked"....

No, normally resigned or 'suspended on full pay.' or 'transferred to another department.'

The reason is that the level of beaurocracy which you have to go through to give someone the heave ho, is mammoth. I know a woman at my work, who was threatended with disciplinary action, so she just went on the sickey for about 6 weeks to piss them off, they couldn't do bollock all about it either.

When I see an interesting thread, or a long post (like the previews bennie used to post) I just copy-paste it into Microsoft notepad.
Then you can read away without any a) logging by big-brother and b) if someone looks at your monitor, they don't see anything wrong.

Professional work avoidance.
