Loma wins it comfortably. He beat Russell Jr in like his 3rd fight. Now he's got more experience and more comfortable as a pro he'll beat him easily. Russell Jr won't win more than 3 rounds.

Russell hasn't shown me anything that Loma didn't already deal with. It's one thing to overwhelm a stiff, slow guy like Gonzalez with speed, but it's a totally different thing to do it to a boxer like Loma. Russell was also blowing out guys like Hyland prior to the Loma bout, so his big KO of BoxRec's #119 isn't a sign of improvement to me.
It boggles my mind how Russell beating people who are so much different from Loma has some thinking a rematch would go much differently. I also think the win over Gonzo is overrated, as Jhonny's form has been mediocre over the last few years barring him catching Mares cold, and I doubt that he was much better when he fought GR than he was when he lost to Oquendo, who was incidentally supposed to be Loma's debut opponent but pulled out.

Loma was a buzzsaw in that fight. Russell didn't have many answers for the volume and body punching. Nothing Russell can do in a rematch.

I would like to see it as well. I am not a Russell fan but I think he has improved and would do much better this time around.

Seems unlikely with Loma moving up to 130. Unless Russell follows him.
I hope we get Russell vs. the Cuellar/Mares winner.

What specifically has he improved?
I think he would've beaten a slow guy like Gonzalez even prior to the Loma fight, and he already had several blowouts of lower-tier opposition like Hyland, including some nasty KTFOs. To me it's a clear case of a fighter's attributes being well suited to one type of opponent (slow, stiff, and defensively basic Jhonny) but not to another (fast, fluid, and defensively adroit Loma).

I don't think anyone's attributes match up well to Loma tbh. Guy is a train.

What specifically has he improved?
His sense of urgency in the ring.

That for one. I feel like he is sitting down on his punches more. When he was coming up he was ridiculously quick but had a very amateurish style, I feel as if that is changing. Hard to tell if he has improved defensively but I would like to see.
I also think the bright lights kind of got to him in that first fight with loma and I don't think that will be the case the second time around.

He threw 806 punches against Loma so I don't think being more urgent would help, if anything he would leave himself open for more counters. His accuracy was awful he landed 18 out of 425 jabs so instead of just letting his hands go he could try being more selective, I don't think there is anything he can do to beat Loma though he's just too good.

Ya, I'm not really seeing the urgency thing. He was moving his hands often and fighting hard against Lomachenko, but for once as a pro he came up against a highly skilled boxer who could negate his excellent handspeed and hence left him punching air all night. To me the differences between his fight with Loma and his last two fights are down to the opposition.
I'd like to see them have some more fights with other opponents before they rematch anyway.

I guess I can see your point, but I think you guys rate Lomachenko a little too high, but he is great so I guess it's harder to tell where overrating begins.

I don't think I rate him as highly as most do, and in my opinion he's probably a bit overrated on the whole. However, I still think he's very good and possesses the right mix of attributes to negate Russell's strengths, while a slow, stiff fighter like Gonzalez is made for Gary to shine against.
For now I'd like to see them fight different opponents. I think they're both capable of doing big things and perhaps down the line a rematch could be a major fight.

Worse result for Russell Jr 2nd time imo. Lomachenko is the real deal n now has twice as many fights as last time
