GGG just blew Wade away.

Yep, it was a mismatch, which everyone who saw Wade get a gift decision over a 40yo Sam Soliman knew it would be. I don't know why this was more than six months after the Lemieux fight - GGG has been pretty active these last few years, perhaps he wanted a break? Regardless, I hope to see him back to staying busy from here on out, ideally against better opposition. Fight against any of the following would be good:

Canelo
Jacobs
Eubank Jr
Saunders
Lara
Cotto
Froch at 172lb
either Dirrell at 168lb
DeGale at 168lb
Ramirez at 168lb
Ward at 168lb

Some people might take 2 or 3 off the list but that group in general would pass as a good defence.

Yep that list is the most sensible one anyone has posted. I would add Lee to that list and the guy from Argentina who is the mandatory for whoever the WBC decides is the real champion after the Alvarez v. Kahn fight.

Which six would you object to? I didn't choose them because they are likely to happen, merely because they would be good fights for GGG at this stage and good fights for the fans.

Canelo - WBC and lineal MW champ most logical opponent
Jacobs - holds the minor version of GGG's title, possibly the 2nd best MW after GGG
Eubank Jr - up and coming middleweight, fight may make more sense if Eubank gets another big win first
Saunders - MW title holder, GGG needs this fight to unify
Lara - would be GGG's best opponent yet, gives him cred with hardocore boxing fans
Cotto - coming off a loss but still a marquee fight and a big name
Froch at 172lb - could be a huge money fight in a UK stadium
either Dirrell at 168lb - both top 10 super middles, would be his biggest win
DeGale at 168lb - probably the second biggest challenge after Ward, would be by far GGG's biggest win

Everything from Cotto on. Cotto will never fight him he has already said as much. Froch at 172 that is way out of GGG's range and Froch is retired. Ward is fighting at 175 and is supposed to be fighting Kovalev soon. And all the 168 guys are just too big for him. GGG is only 5'10. His reach is 69 to 70. He has huge disadvantages outside of middle. He is a small middle at that. First 5 make sense.

If you really think that, then obviously you don't think much of GGG as a fighter. He's a solid middleweight and would definitely be small for a super middleweight, but that will hardly matter when you take into account GGG's skill, experience, power and chin.

Sadly, some people want GGG to fight bigger guys in heavier weight divisions because they want him to lose.

For the record, I'm a GGG fan and he is my favourite current fighter. I don't want to see him lose, but I do want to see him challenged. I've seen some posting that he should fight Kovalev at 175lb and that I disagree with as he would be outweighed by at least 15, possibly 20lb. He would be at a size disadvantage at 168lb too, but I think he's good enough to overcome that.

GGG has the potential to be great, but to prove it he needs to challenge himself.

Dont be silly. I have FORGOTTEN more than you about GGG. I know GGG's lawyer personally and I spoke to him the day before his last fight. Seriously it is you that just does not understand the jumping of weight classes. I don't expect you to seeing as you have proposed he fight Froch at 172 LOL That one made me laugh out loud.

That could be that is the best explanation I have heard regarding this. But really Freedom I think it is that some of these guys know so little about the sport that it makes us think that this is what they want. I actually think it is they know so little boxing. But you could be right.

My list was only ever intended to be a fan's wishlist - I know full well that many of the fighters on it are not realistic options. In no way am I blaming GGG or his team for not making any of the fights.

It is not a fans wish list at all though. GGG is a 160 guy. man I am telling you he is not a 168 guy. He will not carry up there. He is small and those guys are so much bigger than him. GGG's only 5'10 man. He needs to stay at 160. He is much closer to 154 than 168.

The guys fighting at 168 are cutting down from over 190 and rehydratring somewhere close to there after the weigh in. Now could GGG go to 168 and beat a guy like Abraham? No doubt he could and he would. But what is the point of that? Or could he steal a trinket at 168 probably, yeah but i do not see the point of going down that road.

Ridiculous comment. Tom Loeffler and Abel Sanchez have both talked about GGG fighting Froch at a catchweight above super middleweight because Froch says he can't make 168lb anymore (although I'm not sure if I buy that, he made weight comfortably during his career). I wasn't saying the fight is likely or even that's it's something GGG's team should be shooting for, but it's certainly not impossible and I would favour GGG to win. Come on, it's not likely people haven't moved up divisions before!

No, it's IS a fan's wish list because I am a fan of GGG who want to see him be great. I completely agree that GGG is a natural middleweight and not a natural super middleweight. He definitely can compete at 168lb because he's good enough to beat guys who are naturally bigger than him. He previously signed to fight Chavez Jr at 168lb, his team wanted Froch at 168lb - it's clear they have more confidence in him than you do.
