Canelo IS a MW champ of the world, thus should have to defend that belt at 160, the MW limit. If he wanted to go up for Froch, but not Ward, who cares? it just happened that Cotto had the middleweight strap. Canelo was never interested at 160lbs. Canelo is waaay more seasoned and proven than

If Canelo isn't interested in fighting at 160, here's a great idea, give up the MW title. He'd go down for Mayweather but not for Alvarez is simple. Mayweather isn't a MW nor has he fought at MW. Canelo WON a MW title and is also now defending that belt. It's pretty easy, if you don't want to fight at MW, give up that belt.

I like many have been frustrated that GGG has been as yet unable to land a big fight. Let's be real though - the majority of people favour him to beat Canelo at 160lb because GGG has been easily beating B level fighters. To say that GGG only fights bums is a huge exaggeration - Geale and Lemieux were top 5 middleweights, Macklin and Murray were top 10 and pretty much everyone else he's fought since 2012 has been top 20. I agree that Wade was a poor opponent, but he was the IBF mandatory and if GGG wants to achieve his goal of unifying the belts, he will need to take on such opponents from time to time. Yes, Canelo has a better resume, but he struggled to beat Trout, Lara and Cotto and lost badly to Mayweather.

GGG is already a Great fighter.

It's not his fault that there isn't a lot of competition that is ready, willing, and able to fight him. How he'd do against Hagler or Hopkins is just plain conjecture. Any fight between those 3 would be very tough for both combatants.
