Hughie Fury vs. Anthony Joshua

Do you see any talent in Hughie Fury? I don't. He has ordinary speed, little power, ordinary footwork, not much head movement.

I think he'll get destroyed in round one if he ever fights Anthony Joshua. In fact, he'll be KOed by any decent top 15 HW like Takam, Parker, Povetkin, Wilder, Ortiz, etc.

What do you think?

Joshua easily, probably in 1 or 2 rounds. Hughie is nowhere near world level right now.

Who picked Hughie by KO? Come out, come out wherever you are.

Confused Hughie with his cousin?

He is not developing as I hoped. He have not shown any improvement in his physicality and power. He is clearly still bothered by a medical condition. Obviously he is not a match for Joshua right now. But the worse thing is that I dont think there is much potential here.

Realistic and honest post. :TU:

I like Joshua for the same reason I like Golovkin - he wins his fights impressively and in a dominant way.

Fury ran and pitty-patted Kevin Johnson for a dull decision, but Joshua he took him out early.

Unlikely, but I think there is hope for Hughie to keep him at bay jab, jab, jabbing, and tying him up untill Joshua gasses, at which point easy decision. Would have to be on his A game from start to finish though.

Utter garbage from mister Lampley, that like saying the aim of football (soccer) is to score goal so team should have 4 strikers and aim to win 5-3 else they aren't playing the game properly. It's boxing, the sweet science, hit and not get hit, not a game of punch for punch.

I think people are being too harsh on Hughie after his last performance.

Kassi is a decent fighter and Hughie was winning easily.

I wasn't even bashing him, he's doing very well, just so much younger, he's naturally not as far along, I certainly think he'd ruin the 21 year old version of Joshua.

Hughie is a smart boxer who knows how to achieve the maximum result out of his body. Somehow his body is very limited, not strong, not fast, not such a long reach as Tyson, he's really like the middle of Tyson and that little brother. I don't think he'll become much better as rank 15 ish, unless he's going to pick his opponends very selectively, like Deontay Wilder does.

He couldn't even ruin the 40+ Kassi

Kassi is 36, and a very good defensive switcher, on a totally different level to 21 year old Joshua, who also didn't even have the power he has now.

Great he could beat a future world champ a couple of years ago.

I agree. Kassi was right there with Arreola and Breazeale but for the most part looked outclassed by Hughie. It was a boring fight, but Hughie showed himself to be quite effective at scoring while minimizing risks.

Well the point is he's further along at the same age.

Well lets see if has a belt at the same age when Joshua got his then otherwise the point is mute.

Why don't we see if he's fighting better opponents. The belt he has is so paper thin it's not much better than the belt Hughie just won, and given he fought someone many argue beat AJ's next opponent, it's not that unlikely. The current IBF "World" heavyweight title is a joke born from boxing politics, dumb rankings, and an injured knee. Belts that paper only come around once every 100 years.

He is not ONLY 21, he is ALREADY 21. That means he is nearing his physical prime, yet shown no power and as I said no increase in power compared to 2 years ago.

As for Joshua at 21, I dont think its an adequate comparison. At 21 he was a novice and there was a room for substantial technical improvement. Fury at 21 is already an advanced fighter. He wont improve much technically. What he need is physical improvement. And so far it is not happening.

Kassi was landing pretty easily I thought, jabs straight rights, left hooks flash on Fury. Whereas Hughie found it hard to land on moving target, was missing all the time. He was also swinging big punches, more then I have ever seen him do. Yet he could not affect Kassi at all. I think Hughie got exposed and perhaps saved by a ridiculous stoppage. This fight change my mind on Hughie. I am officially writing him off.

At the moment, Joshua.

In 4 or 5 years time, Hughie.

People don't give Hughie enough credit. Yeah the fight vs Kassi was shit, but Hughie won comfortably against a guy who should have got the win over Joshua's next opponent Brezeale and Arreola. Kassi is a better opponent than Breazeale is solely on the basis he actually beat him on most people's cards.

Liam Smith's title is not any better.
