Paul Butler Vs Petchbarngborn Kokietgym

Always interesting when British promoters bring over Thai's as they tend to bring over ones who are useless (like the guy Jamie McDonnell fought- Tabtimdaeng Na Rachawat), and Petchbarngborn sort of fills that description.

He gave Kono a test a few years ago (though it was at a time when it seemed Kono's career was about done following 3 losses in 4 bouts-including one to the then 2-0 Yohei Tobe), but since then was stopped by Sho Ishida (good body shot stoppage) took a close win over the naturally smaller Ardin Diale, and beat a shot to bits Nouldy Manakane (who had been stopped in 4 of his previous 5).

Butler shouldn't just win, he really should shine against an opponent who will provide very little in terms of a test.

Winner supposedly fights Inoue next year.

I think he would of stepped up to Bantam by then, which is handy for these 2. saying these 2 Butler will smash and look class doing it..

Will Inoue go up to Bantam soon ? Thought they would want the Gonzalez fight as Super Fly as it seems he may have fought his last fight at Flyweight.

Interesting what happens with this as I just don't see Butler fighting Inoue in Japan.

I think this could actually be a closer fight than most.
On paper he's probably Butlers 3rd best opponent and would be second best win.

His manager (former world champion Hideyuki Ohashi) has basically said he probably has another year at 115, so that's probably 3 fights (likely that one of them will be this summer in the US, one in December in Japan, then one next May-possibly Gonzalez?)

Inoue's backed by a MASSIVE news network in Japan (Fuji News Network) so he won't be travelling unless he wants to travel (which is where the US comes in), Butler may technically sell more tickets (Inoue's fight tomorrow is at the 10,000 seater Ariake Colosseum so not a huge venue but around the same as the Echo) but the TV money Fuji have is HUGE which will offset that anyway.

Hand held footage from the Ishida fight, filmed by someone from the Ioka team-who upload a LOT of footage of their fighters
