I know that it pretty much started with Don King in the ring before and after fights trying to get his dumb face on the tv screen as much as he could but why promoters still do it is beyond me. After the fight this weekend, Oscar and Bernard couldn't have looked more pathetic trying to get both their faces on tv when Canelo was taking his post fight interview. Both of them sandwiched in between the ring card girls with dumb smiles on their face like they've never been on tv before. Have they not been on TV enough in their careers? Everyone knew they put on the damn thing so why they are starving to be in a shot while their fighter just came off one of his greatest wins is beyond me.

Can anyone put this into a perspective that I haven't been able to understand?

My guess is to associate themselves with success. Goldenboy Promotions, Canelo Alvarez just winning..

Im not certain but I can't remember Khans promoters on his post match interview.

Khan promotes himself (Khan Promotions) and it is registered in his uncle Taz's name. Taz was standing right behind him during the post fight interview.

For Bernard Hopkins it could be to remind people that he's a part of that company. And I'm sure he's considering taking another well paying fight. So it's understandable. Oscar? Not too sure. But it's hardly surprising. He's never been shy in front of the camera. Regardless of attire.

And can someone explain why that fat black guy and his 2 sons are always in one corner or other pre fight and involved in the ringwalks etc ?

These days it seems to be just one son doing it but it still baffles me.

Mightve won a competition of some sort and obviously the reward was not only to go to the fight but to also be up close. That would be my guess.

Oh OK I had no idea. I was trying to remember if I saw anyone in suits in which I would've assumed them to be his manager/promoters.

They're media hounds like Amir Khan... You saw Khan get knocked out but still yapped his ass off for the cameras and giving his opinion that Canelo needs to fight GGG next... Khan just kept yapping away... If you get knocked out for 5 minutes you generally DON'T DO THAT unless you're a media hound... If you remember Oscar ran his mouth in similar fashion after he was knocked out by Hopkins -- misrepresenting the scorecards and what not.. "Two judges had me ahead.. The fight was so much easier than I ever thought." .... Well, 2 judges did NOT have you ahead. And you got out of the fight without being knocked unconscious... Like you're the story and not the winner of the fight.

Sam Watson is the Dad and he's Al Haymon's feet on the street and his two boys are pretty much caterer's. Their job is to take care of their boxers every need and in turn they get to walk these guys in and sit ringside. I honestly can't blame them because i'd do it in a second but here's more details on why we can't not see these guys at every big fight:

My guess is that both of them will be pretty important pieces of the boxing puzzle in 15-20 years when they go off on their own. We better get used to them.

Those kids and the dad drove me crazy enough that i had to look it up to see what the heck they were doing at every fight so great question from you. I saw somewhere how the two kids are on call for 24-7 for all of Haymon's boxers. They were talking about getting ice cream for one of the boxers at 3am and bailing another boxer out in Mexico. They aggravate me but they must be accumulating some great stories doing what they do. I'd love to see them write a book at some point about some of the stuff they've had to do for these boxers.
