W@rren offered 500grand for the Flanagan fight, Hearn said he made nearly that for the Barroso fight.
I'm guessing between 300k and 400k...

I get your drift, but people (including me) are interested in this kind of stuff - especially when boxers themselves and their promoters etc. refer to an amount of money (i.e. Eddies favourite "life changing amount of money") without actually stating a figure.

If they don't want people speculating how much their purses are then they shouldn't refer to it themselves.

Generally speaking, after all expenses - promoter, manager, trainer, sparring partners, tax (unless they stick it in a Panama company) etc. then he will end up with approx. 1/3 of his top line figure in his pocket.

Say he got £250k (no idea - just a number) then he would end up with about £85k in his sky rocket.

Aren't most of those expenses taken care of in a promotional deal? I always thought the fighters purse was pretty much their take home pay, minus whatever % the manager and/or trainer gets.

Danny Williams got 125,000 for fighting Tyson took home about 35,000. Manager, trainer, promoter on 10% a piece. Taxman after 40% above 45k (ish).

So, rough figures

12.5k x 3 = 37.5k
40% of 80 = 32
20 % of remaining 45 = 9

There's 78.5 of the 125 gone So 46.5 left. Expenses or fees? No idea. Soon gets eaten away tho

No wonder offshore banking is so popular. That's pretty savage.

Isn't that broken down as
£125k starting purse. £37.5k out to manager, trainer, promoter.
£87.5k remaining which is taxable.
£42.5k taxable at 40% = 17k
£45 taxable at 20% = 9k

Tax = £26kg
Remaining = £61.5k

Your figures taxed him from the top, before the promoters/manager/trainer cut was taken off, but you had already correctly removed them in the first line of your sum.

It is still brutal, taking home 50% of the purse.

I'm with you on this point. Boxing wants to show off how much money is involved in the game and plays off promoters and fighters against themselves with talk of not giving x or y a payday

Good point but you could then argue this for a lot of these threads, a lot of the titles on here are none of our business but as its entertainment and in the public eye it intrigues us. To be fair you know roughly what other people get paid from their occupations so its just intrigued.

Out of interest, if a fight gets cancelled/postponed, who usually ends up footing the bill for training/sparring partner expenses? It must be pretty tough if you're the boxer -you have to pay everyone and then your opponent pulls out leaving you several thousand out of pocket and no payday in sight.
