When given an example of a 145lb UFC fighter hydrating to 171lbs (26lbs increase) he seemed to get agitated and replied that it was completely irrelevant to the debate about boxing and Canelo's weight on fight night.

I asked out of interest how much Callum puts on after weigh in, but not sure he'll reply on that.

I think it's down to the percentage of bodyweight.

I was doing a little bit of research the other day, and anything over 10% of bodyweight, which is effectively achieved via dehydration, is considered dangerous, I'd have thought 15% would surely be the absolute limit before someone ends up in hospital, you just fall unconscious below a certain level of hydration.

15% of 180 lbs would mean you were weighing in at 153, so 155 is probably just about possible.

I guess you can add on some weight for a decent meal, maybe 1 or 2 pounds, hard to see anyone having more than a couple of pounds of food in their system by the time they fight, I'd have thought you'd want to abstain from food too close to the fight, you don't want a load of food swilling around inside when you're being punched in the gut.

I reckon it's possible, but it's right on the edge of what is possible.

The higher the weights go, the more a fighter can dehydrated in terms of actual pounds, so a cruiserweight could weigh in probably 235 come fight night.

I'm doing quite a bit of surmising here, I'm sure Rhino would have some better idea than my rough guesses.

I understand what you are saying, however using your example a world level light-heavy would likely box at 190lbs on the night etc.

I've a feeling GGG is going to call their bluff.

They will probably try and offer a ridiculous sum of money, like 90-10 Canelo. I hope if they do, that GGG accepts and they are left with nowhere to turn to avoid it. If GGG beats Canelo, he'll be a massive star, even the Mexicans will like him.

He said not too long ago he could make 155 for Mayweather. I can't see the fight being at 160. Golden boy will be trying to secure every advantage possible. It'll probably be another long drawn out tedious wait until the fight is announced!

So... he's a middleweight so he'll fight a middleweight at middleweight or a smaller fighter at a lower catchweight or a bigger fighter at a higher catchweight.

Where did you get that information?

180 is ridiculous. Canelo have never been more then 172 before the fight. Where would he find another 8-10 pounds. I wonder what Khan weighted himself. I am pretty sure he was north of 165. They both refused to weigh in, so now to come up with excuses is just pathetic. Thats Khan for you though.

This is the thing, I can't see a single verifiable source for his in ring weight.

It was on HBO. Khan weighed 163lbs on the night and Alvarez weighed 175lbs.

I don't believe for a second he's afraid of GGG - I think he wants the fight, but GB don't really want the fight unless they have every perceived advantage going into the fight. They are forcing him to make dumbass statements about how he's not a MW, whilst defending the MW title, and weighing in north of 170 on fight night on a regular basis.

They are making him look an arse, and in the end I think he's going to demand the fight, the guy's a proper fighter, I'm actually a big fan, and I honestly believe he wants nothing more than to take on GGG, even if he believes he's up against it.

How about this. At some point Alvarez will not be able to make 155 anymore. One day it'll be too much of a pain in the arse to bring people to this "Cinnamonweight" as people are calling it. And the weight stipulations will stop.

He still seems a growing lad. His body looks kind of drawn, shrunken to me. I think he has to work hard to get to 155.

When he does fight at 160 there actually will be benefits. He'll be able to throw punches more than a minute a round, you'd hope.

I think because he depleted himself for Mayweather (as Cotto did forPac) by coming in light, he's willing to make people do the same for him. But it won't last. Because his own body will fill out.

Right now, I have a serious issue with him insisting Lara fight him above 154 and insisting Golovkin fight him considerably south of 160 (as we've heard several times). That reeks of taking the piss.
