Lack of promotion

Channel 5 seem to have stopped promoting their shows. I'm sure when they had the likes of Fury, Eubank and DeGale on their shows they used to put the odd urban placard and tv ad about their boxing shows.

It really annoys me when I almost miss out on a fight night because of zero promotion. And tonight Lee Haskins is defending his world title on home soil on terrestrial TV. I know we'll never return to the days when UK boxers were household names but if a boxing fan doesn't hear about a big fight then it stops being a big fight.

I'm a fairly big boxing fan and I subscribe to allegedly plus IFL, BoxTalk, Boxing Gossip, Seconds Out and a couple of others on YouTube. And all I saw was one video of a press conference with bad audio. Then I actively checked the TV listings to see that the main event is on Channel 5 (which I know would probably mean the undercard is on Spike TV). I thought as Barry McGuigan was in the centre of the table in that presser that it would be his event. But it turns out Haskins is 'promoted' by Chris Sanigar.

Sanigar should have been going to every recent domestic boxing show and demanding to get interviewed. Channel 5 should be advertising the fact that they are screening a world title fight on free to air TV. At least Hennessy used to do (and still does) interviews with James Helder.

Promoting a fight(er) should not be limited to the Bath Chronicle and the Western Daily Press. Sanigar Promotions don't even have a website :brick:

Agreed...I'd also like the option of BN HD too.

I'm in the same boat as you but be careful what you wish for. Close ups of Bunceys face in crystal clear high definition are not for the squeamish

Be interesting to see how many paying customers there are tonight. Haskins has always been a poor ticket seller, tickets on south west show are really poor its not really a place where the customers folk to see it. Eddie Hearn said Wales is a tough place to sell a fight their. Cleverly and Enzo often fight in England/abroad. Think Channel 5 will be disappointed in the long run with the switch after Hennessy Sports. Be interesting to see how long boxing last on channel 5 and will Hennessy get another terrestrial deal.

Don't have to live in Bristol to do a Google search; do you want me to PM you how to do this?

Anno mate. I had to go out yesterday to B&M and get an aerial extension so I can get it off freeview. My socket for the digital aerial is at the opposite side of my livingroom!
