Well the waster he is fighting at Goodison is someone who he could have splattered on his debut so he is going back far far more levels than Dave Allen with that one.

I'd expect Price to beat Dave Allen but he will benefit more from fighting a young hungry fighter than some guy he would have blasted in a round years ago.

PS I really don't want mean to sound like a Price hater I really supported him years ago when he was on a roll and I was gutted after the two Thomspon defeats.

Far too many fights just like this filling up Matchroom shows of late.
The recent Crolla undercard was a complete embarrassment imo - the boxers involved in these types of fights would be better served having a decent spar behind closed doors.

I think we saw Price at his best vs Teper.

He got starched.

Teper was on roids yes but the result is the result. I think he would have won anyway due to the styles but it's a matter of opinion.

Price is limited in stamina and chin. He is literally in a who-lands-first shootout whenever he steps up to Euro/world level. That's not always going to go your way in the heavyweight division. He can definitely still beat anybody in the division.

I think it's amazing how much he was favoured to beat Fury at one point and look at them now. I think I saw him priced up at 1/5 vs Fury at one stage. You know how bookies sometimes price up matches that might happen.

I dunno about that man. Price's footwork is shite. Fury has very good mobility for a guy of his size and also good handspeed and stamina. Boxing skill wise I think they're fairly similar although Fury uses his jab better for sure. Fury also has more of a natural fighting spirit and is less scared of getting hit I think. Price obviously is the bigger puncher though. That's one area he definietly doesnt lack.

The sad thing is, I think Teper would have won the fight without roids. He should have saved the PED's for when he got to the world level scene if he was gonna take that risk lol (not that I condone it).

agree, price dosent have the confidence to let his hands go and his jab is among the worst ive seen, it was embarrasing to watch him try an get on his toes in the thompson rematch just no balance or co-ordination whatsoever

Horse, if Price wasnt gun shy I dont think he would have been that bad. I dont really like to compare boxers but Joe Bugner comes to mind. The fact is Price is scared to death and thats incapacitated his boxing skill.

We may mock this proposed bout but when you look at Gozzy's record, it seems a win over him opens doors to the BIG fights;

Chisora beat him, two fights on Pulev for the EBU title.

Takam beat him, next fight Perez for the WBC United States (USNBC) title (?)

Skelton beat him, next fight Price for the Brit/Commonwealth crowns.

Hughes beat him, next fight Hughie 'World Class' Fury.

Cornish beat him, two fights on Butlin for the International Masters title.

So don't be so quick to dismiss the importance of this fight, a win here could see Price in a BIG fight next time out.
