David Haye should fight a top HW next, not old Briggs

David Haye isn't getting any younger, he should fight one of the top contenders before he begins to fade, rather than wasting time with old Shannon Briggs.
Haye has looked good since coming back, he's ready for a real fight.

No, he should fight Briggs.

Briggs is perfect for him really. Looks dangerous. Has convinced a significant amount of people he's still dangerous. All the while only being in search of one more payday. Haye will win easy. Briggs might give a legitimate effort in the 1st round, after that I fully expect he'll be looking for a soft spot on the canvas the first time he eats a big shot from Haye.
I'll really only be interested in Haye's next fight when he's fighting somebody I think might beat him. I want to see Haye get knocked out or not see him at all.

Fighting old Briggs might make some money, but he would be a meaningless win for Haye.

More meaningful than the last two guys.
Haye's said that he'll fight him, so he has to.
Haye can't afford to lose any more credibility as far as being a man of his word goes.

Who are best three opponents Briggs has defeated since Ibragimov schooled him in 2007?
Since that time he's beaten nothing but dross, and the one time he stepped up he was so far out of his depth that he was beaten into intensive care. He's been matched with guys that even Arnie Gjerjag would beat for a reason, and is no more credible than him IMO.

Haye earned a nice amount lastnight, he also built Briggs as a 1 round killer to the uneducated masses.
Haye vs. Briggs makes sense next...

Briggs is ranked roughly the same as Haye, I think they said 6 and 7
Whilst I think its a hyped up fight and a bit of a joke its what they have to do I suppose

This is like the 'Great boxing Swindle' Its been set up for months. Briggs coming over to the UK and making noise. Its all a money making scam and most people are falling for it.
As for the fight I hope Briggs gets the first one in.

Fair play to Briggs, turning his life around and chasing fights by just being a loudmouth with his 'catchphrase' - he is exploiting the sad state boxing has turned into - good luck to him

Briggs is far more credible than Gjergjaj, because he has actually done something at some point and Gjergjaj has never done anything.
Haye is not currently a world level contender and has only recently returned to boxing, so I don't see what is wrong with him fighting fairly low level opposition.

i'll never forget the idiot fans who were chanting 'Bruno Bruno' after the Audley Harrison fight with Matthew Ellis when Herbie Hide ran amok. Audley got on the mike and asked whether fans wanted to see him fight Herbie or Bruno.
Audley was actually trying to get the Bruno fight on !!!!!!
The Haye circus has a very similar pattern.
its embarrassing
if anyone connected with Haye had any real integrity or respect for fans and the sport they would go for a perfectly decent low risk matchup like Pulev for the European title.
Briggs can hardly move. only a complete anus would want to watch some old steroid hulk get pasted all night.
it would advance Hayes standing not one jot...and actually just makes him fit into the Dave comedy remit as some kind of wrestling act.

To me Briggs's achievments mean little considering how long ago they occured. Using your reasoning we could say that pretty much any contender from the 60s or 70s would be more credible than Gjerjag if they came back, simply becaue they accomplished more than him. Haye would be fighting the 2016, 44 year old, post-intensive care stay version of Briggs, hence things the latter did years ago are largely irrelevant in terms of his credibility.
Briggs was well out of his depth the last two times he fought anyone in the top ten, and since 2007 the opposition he's beaten is even worse than Gjerjag's, with Arnie's win over Bakhtov being more 'impressive' anything Briggs had done. I think on recent form, which is the most relevant form, Gjerjag is at least as credible, but he was a pretty bad opponent in the first place, so even if Briggs
were more deserving it hardly means he's a respectable opponent; there can be crap and even worse crap.

I honestly think Shannon will get hurt possibly hospitalised when he fights Haye. Yes he looked good last night but come on I would of looked good against that opponent, he was very raw. We all know when you get older the balance and punch resistance goes. The Haymaker has a decent dig on him even if he has seen better days. The punch is the last think to go.

There's nothing wrong with Gjergjaj or Briggs as opponents for Haye.
He is not a world champion and he is not currently a world level contender either. There is no reason why he has to fight top level opponents.
He has just come back from a few years out of the ring and these opponents are better than the low level journeymen that he could reasonably be fighting.
I don't get the criticism.

Haye will probably finish him fairly quickly once he's got him hurt.
The referee will probably be looking to wave it off if Briggs is taking any serious sort of beating.
I don't think that Briggs will take too much punishment.

I don't know who's fought the worst opponents recently, but this creaking semi-cadaver Shannon Briggs would demolish Gjerjag. Gjerjag had no talent, chin or heart, and even tried quit on a jab.

Fair comment Horse if Shannon is hurt that's what id like to see a very quick stoppage due to his age and Hayes power. I do like Briggs for antics its different to what we see over here.

In what way is that low risk?
Why on earth would Haye want to take that fight?
Horrific suggestion.
