75-25 or 70-30 would be reasonable. 90-10 is a slap in the face to Golovkin, and in demanding a ridiculous split like that it shows that Canelo and his people expect he'll lose a lot of star power after this fight.

Fairest? 50-50 or 40-40 with the other 20 going to the winner. I'm not sure what is likely though with Canelo dropping the WBC what does fighting Canelo matter to GGG?

the standard purse bid split is 75-25.
that is NOT for a unification fight, and definitely not for a title defense that would not
be possible had the mandatory agreed to step aside 3 times already and had a contract
each time that he would be next. i believe the purse split for this fight was going to be
55-45 because of the above circumstances, and canelo vacated to avoid that. discussing
splits at this point is academic, because 3g is fighting saunders next. why would canelo
think giving up the title would encourage ggg to take a SMALLER split? canelo gave up the
title because he wants out of the fight. the fight isn't happening. looking back, i'm sure 3g
regrets not forcing cotto to fight or vacate back when he became mandatory in 2014.
he allowed those 2 chumps to waste too much of his time as it is. if canelo wanted to fight,
his best chance of getting 3g to sign for less than the purse bid split was while he STILL HAD
THE TITLE!

Well since Golovkin is now the champion and Canelo handed his belt over like a good little boy i'd say he's given significant ground over to G in the negotiations. If Triple G says he'll accept 40% and not a cent less and that is rejected by Canelo then he looks real bad.... handed the belt over, then refused the fight even with a 60% lion share.

And, from what I understand, the 90-10 split is the reason why K2 have walked away from the "negotiation"

To me, this is all Golden Boy's fault from the start. They couldn't resist grabbing that low hanging fruit fight against Cotto and grabbing the MW strap. Cotto was already dealing with GGG talk and questions when they would fight. GB knew they would inherit the same once they beat Cotto so they should have had a better exit strategy than this if they never had any intention of fighting GGG.
It's obvious that Canelo wants no part of GGG but they could have come up with a better way to avoid the fight while at the same time saving their boxers face in the process. Now, Canelo just looks like one of the many pu$$ies putting the gloves on these days.

Asking for 90-10 split is Canelo shamelessly ducking Golovkin.

something around 65-35
canelo is the second best 154 boxer
ggg is king of middleweight
canelo has more star power, but ggg isnt no nobody either.

I'm a fan of Canelo but if this is true then I hope gets knocked out when and if they do fight.
If he fears a loss to triple GGG he should just say he's not ready for GGG or something like that where he's kind of telling the truth. I'll still be a fan of Canelo if he's being honest rather than calling out GGG for the sake of pride.

Blatantly making an offer they know won't be accepted.
I'd laugh if GGG's team accepted it, but then they'd find another excuse not to make the fight.

The "Catch" or use the Godfather phrase in reverse make him (GGG) a offer he can refuse.
It's fight at 160 for 90/10 split,,,or fight at 155 for a 50/50 split. Each pound GGG cuts will pay him millions more. Not surprised...

Canelo needs to stop squibbing it and just fight him, at middleweight and 50/50 split.

That'll never happen. Canelo is pricing himself out of the fight and its quite transparent as to why.

Everyone should have known that Cowardo was going down this route. The 90-10 offer doesn't surprise me at all. He has never wanted the fight and never will unless we see massive decline from Triple G.

Canelo and DLH think that every fighter wants to become a diva and for that every fighter wants to beat a diva. However, those damn "Soviets" are intoducing a different approach. There is a reason why from 5 existing unified champions, 3 are "Soviets" (plus Fury is only unified because he defeated unified Klitchko). Those "Soviets" just want to follow rules, defend against mandatories and unify by fighting other champions instead of cherry picking convenient opponents.
Golovkin still wants Canelo, but he doesn't need him that much anymore. By dropping the belt, Canelo didn't improve his chances to get a better split.

Granted, I don't have an encyclpedic recall of every fight negotiation, but I cannot recall a more humiliating series of events for a given fighter in a negotiation. This is 10 times more embarrassing for Canelo than getting Knocked out in a fight with GGG. This is starting to encroach on an area where THIS will be what he is most remembered for, not anything he did in the ring.
If this is all GB and not him, I truly feel bad for him. I have to imagine that looking like a complete coward is deeply humiliating to a fighter.
If it's his call, then I am a bit surprised. You would think he wouldn't be too aftraid to get in there and take his shot. He is a fighter (and a damn good one) for god's sake.

It's a negotiation. GGG is going to chop him down in a near massacre and will win lots of new fans when he does. I'm sure his people will negotiate their way to 25%, but it'll be a very easy noght for Golovkin and besides, it's just money.

50/50 is the right split... 90/10 is saying "I don't want to fight GGG" like every other coward has been saying... Pricing yourself out is a COMMON TACTIC in Boxing... GGG is by far the FAVORITE and the BETTER PERFORMER who fought the MOST World Championship Fights... GGG also has the far better KO ratio and the far better record for World Title Defenses of 16-0 with 16 KO wins in 16 Defenses. There is NOT ONE ACTIVE FIGHTER in the world who Canelo could do the kind of numbers he would do with Gennady Golovkin. In every broad survey of fans (polling thousands of Boxing fans and not dozens of fans like the survey's done here) the fans would rather see Golovkin-Mayweather than Mayweather-Canelo II... And GGG is the runaway favorite opponent for Canelo . GGG brings MANY WORLD TITLE BELTS to the table.. Canelo brings NO BELTS.
Canelo is the biggest CHERRY PICKER in Boxing... He won a "vacant" world title against a setup, and fought 5 cherry-picked challengers before getting a rigged decision over soft punching Austin Trout, who out-landed Canelo numerically by dozens of punches. He then lost lopsidedly to small, skinny, and soft punching Floyd Mayweather. He then fought another cherry pick and then was given another odious gift decision over Erislandy Lara, a soft punching, non-aggressive Cuban who's been robbed blind TWICE.. That was the 2nd of 5 Caneloweight fights.. He was allowed to step in front of MANDATORY CHALLENGER GGG to beat washed up and undersized midget, Miguel Cotto, at Caneloweight, for the Lineal Middleweight Title. Cotto's previous competitive fight was a lopsided loss to soft punching Austin Trout. Canelo's record in World Title Defenses in 7-1, but 6 of those are outrageous CHERRY PICKS, the last being China chinned Welterweight Amir Khan, also at Caneloweight... In sharp contrast Golovkin has been fighting the best Middleweights in the world who will face him at Middleweight... ALL the top Middleweights have been running from GGG for many years to avoid certain KO losses. If Canelo grew a pair and signed for GGG the fight would probably blow past Mayweather-Canelo in PPV numbers. All that would be needed is promoting the fight with the same over-the-top hype, money, vigor, and creativity - which apparently isn't afforded to a Kazakh.

Thats crazy and I think Canelo is joking around here, if hes being serious then thats just insane. The fight should be 50/50 or you could argue 60/40 in favour of canelo because he gets more buys than GGG which is far more realistic than 90/10. Apart from the money GGG in my opinion beats canelo in the later rounds by KO or TKO. GGG winning that fight would give him The ring title ( i know its nothing major ). Then after that he should go for BJS and take the WBO and have all the belts. have a few defences maybe try and break the record for most middleweight defences (20) which i think he will do and thats a historic moment in boxing considering how many legends have graced that division and after that possibly move up to SM and try the same process, although that seems unlikely because he is getting older and will get limited to his ability in the ring as time goes on but he should try win a world championship at least at Super Middleweight.

Hard to see it any other way. I'm almost convinced now Canelo wants no part of GGG.
