All This GGG Hype Needs To Stop!

GGG couldn't even compete with the likes of Terry Norris, Gerald Mclellan, or Julian Jackson and a definite hell no to Hagler or Hopkins! Roy at 160lbs

would literally tattoo his face something nicely! All of these fighters I've just mentioned would give GGG fits!

He would have butchered Pavlik. I've seen enough to know that. Norris and Jackson too.

probably, but those long straight punches pavlik threw wouldve kept it interesting for a bit

Perhaps, I see a painful beat down.

out of all the fighters at 160 today the only one who has a chance to survive 12 rounds with golovkin is billy joe saunders a very slick and underrated fighter all others would fall victim to KO losses thats not hype thats truth

Saunders wont last past 6 or 7 rounds.

You never stop trolling do you? Julian "No Chin" Jackson wouldn't beat Triple G. All 6 of his losses were by KO. Would only be a matter of time before a Triple G punch would lay him out.

Easily beats Jackson, he was diminished at 160 and never had a great chin.

An ignorant assessment.. Mike McCallum destroyed Julian Jackson in 2 rounds.. Jackson had no defense.. McClellan was rabbit punched early and often by Nigel Benn. Mac wound up a basket-case because he didn't defend that well.. Terry Norris was another China Chin and poor defender like Julian Jackson and his son John Jackson BOTH are.. Like father, like son.. Norris was KO'd early and often. He was wasted by Jackson because he couldn't defend well either.. Norris did manage to KO the equally chinny John Mugabi in the 1st round...I have to give him credit for that.

Norris also beat the crap out of a cherry-picking Sugar Ray Leonard, but so what??? Look how many times Norris was knocked out - and nobody feared Norris, not even Ray Leonard. Leonard was GGG's age when Norris trounced him, but the excuse is "SRL was old!!!" ... Hagler lost to a welterweight coming off a 3-year-layoff. It was Ray Leonard's FIRST fight at Middleweight and he was a big underdog. It was Hagler's 3rd defeat. GGG is undefeated and has never lost more than a round to anyone--much less a Welterweight such as Floyd who refused to fight Triple-G.. GGG has 22 straight KO wins and everybody runs and ducks from him and they're all scared to death of him... Even Lightweights like Duran and Welterweights like Leonard went the distance with Hagler at 160. Nobody was really scared fighting Hagler except chinny guys like Hearns - who ducked heavy hitters: James Toney, Michael Nunn, and Mike McCallum among others are guys Hearns wanted no part of.

After Ray Leonard whipped Hagler, his top Middleweight Challengers were Michael Nunn, Mike McCallum, and Julian Jackson. Ray never fought them and ducked around them. In fact they were the 3 Middleweight Champions (they each won pieces of the splintered Middleweight Title after SRL abandoned it) when Leonard fought Terry Norris (who had been knocked stiff by Jackson a couple fights earlier). That's right. Leonard abandoned the Middleweight Title like Canelo did... Leonard didn't want to fight those killers.

Don't worry, it will stop in 4-5 years when some big guy beats him.

I don't see much hype involved with 3G. He is simply the best MW of this decade until proven otherwise.

Just ask GingerHead.

True Tanzio... There's no hype.. There's just Floyd, Canelo, Saunders, and Jacobs who don't want to get knocked out by Triple-G... GGG has had business to take care of at 160 since 6 years ago when he took out Milton Nunez 21-1, in 58 seconds for the WBA World Middleweight Interim Title... Martinez was the first guy to duck him and it's happened ever since. Finally he grabbed the WBC Lineal Title from a coward who abandoned it. Now if Jacobs and Saunders just grow a pair. If he were an American things would be different. He would have taken the Lineal Title years ago.

Duran, Leonard, Hearns, and Mugabi all moved up in weight to face Hagler.. Floyd had a World Title at 154 and he refused to defend that against Golovkin.. Now that Golovkin will draw a lot more money maybe some of these Middleweight Title holders will get knocked out for it like Khan.

McCallum and Hagler are the only two on arseclown bnovolist's list that make for good fights, if Hopkins is interesting but if he can't mug his way to a boring win then most likely the fight would be similar to His LHW bout with Kovalev.

When you have a guy with a 345-5 amateur record including wins over Bute and Dirrell and an Olympic silver medal then go 35-0 as a pro, including knockouts in his last 22 fights, the last 16 of which are in world title fights, and people think he's good and start comparing him to past greats - it's not hype!

Norris is a natural 154lb fighter who probably could have made welterweight - he'd probably win some rounds against GGG before being stopped as there's no way his chin would stand up to GGG's power.

McClellan was a huge middleweight and probably had more one-punch power than GGG as well as faster hands and a similarly iron jaw. That said, GGG is so much better schooled than McClellan was, he would outbox McLellan and probably win a wide decision or stop him late.

Jackson was another huge puncher, but without McLellan's size and durability. GGG boxes cautiously as he did against Lemieux and knocks him out in a one-sided fight.

The Hopkins who beat Trinidad in 2001 vs Golovkin is a very interesting fight that I could see going either way - I've discussed this matchup in a previous topic.

Hagler-GGG is another intriguing matchup where I can't pick a winner, but considering his resume, Hagler would have to be the favourite going in.

Agree with all of that.

Hopkins is obviously giving any middleweight in history a really really rough night, and on his night, beat's them some of the time.

GGG may be the best of them all, but we will probably never know. He's not been able to fight the fights he needs to prove it, and at his age, probably never will.

I doubt the Canelo fight will happen at all now.

Canelo fight wouldn't prove much anyway. Golovkin needs to beat BJS, Jacobs, Eubank Jr and then move up and beat a few solid SMWs.

Didn't want to start a separate thread on this, but I just rant into a video of Golovkin's sparring with Mosley published 3+ years ago. Enjoy.

There is no GGG hype.

Its simply a matter of he doesn't have many good choices for opponents.

Part of the problem is too many divisions.

A GGG-Ward fight would be nice. Mayw. wants no part of him @ 154.

Maybe Canelo.
