Need to start catching people during training camps like they did with Povetkin. One of these days a drug cheat will get caught after he's already seriously hurt an opponent.

It's still far more rigorous than in boxing though isn't it? Curtis Woodhouse used to say he was random tested all the time in football and never in boxing.

Bute has said: "“I am surprised and sorry about this. I don’t understand what led to this positive result,” Bute said. “I have always passed every anti-doping test that I was asked to take since I won a world title. More recently for my fight against James DeGale, in Quebec City, last November, I was tested eight times from before my training camp until after my fight. I have never taken any illegal products. I have a complete trust in my team. There will be an analysis of the B sample and I am sure that this result will be negative.”

If it was me and I was actually innocent, I would be feckin raging mad. This statement sounds weak and watery, nothing in it at all, no adament declarations of innocence. Juicing fecking prick

It's not exactly a surprise, although if I was betting money on a fighter on that card failing a test, I would have had my money on Medina.

I doubt that doping in football is a problem.

This seems to be happening more and more recently. Baffles me why certain folk would put their career in jeopardy.

Yeah footballers nearing end of their careers, who still need to run for 90 mins to keep up with the 20 year olds, will definitely be tempted.

DGale's opponent looked suspect big time, just like the suddenly sprightly & rejuvenated Bute, who clearly got his micro dosing timeline wrong.

Especially with the emphasis on the high press these days. Blood doping or other stamina boosters would have a pretty big benefit. Barce and Madrid involving themselves with Eufemiano Fuentes doesn't look good either.

High press??

I think we're seeing lots of failed tests, because boxing has finally started to get it's act together. For years people have been flagrantly doping, I think it's been almost endemic, especially amongst the 30 plus brigade.

30 years ago, a fighter in their early 30's was past their prime, and pretty much finished with a few notable exceptions, now we have as a matter of course guys 35+ turning in peak performances.

For years we had talk of 'better nutrition blah blah blah' but it seems blatant to me, that fighters have been doping for many years, and only now are beginning to get caught as the testing has started to be taken seriously.

I was still talking football. Defending from the front, closing down the opposition quickly all over the pitch.

Ahh right, thought it was some sort of weight lifting thing.

Footballers are blatantly at it, it seems obvious, they are built completely differently to footballers of yesteryear, the transformation has been immense over the last 30 years, sure some of it is training related, but I don't buy that as the only reason.

I think doping in sport is, was and always will be rife, where there's money at stake, people will look for advantages, and there will always be new methods.

in the future it's going to get worse, gene modification, nanotechnology, these things are now science fact, and whilst in their infancy, the rate of progress will be exponential. Human beings will be bioengineered for sport.

They're also fornicating loaded (in comparison to boxers on the whole) so I imagine they tend to have the best designer cocktails which are pretty undetectable.

Yes, and big football clubs have effectively a mini medical centre, they have full time staff who will know exactly what to do.
