I thought Arreola just failed a drugstest, but Wilder probably doesn't care about that. Neither is this guy in the WBC top 15, but they will probably put him there without problems all of a sudden I guess.

Maybe, but Arreola is still pretty bad and there's been a marked decline in his punch resistance. His last four fights show how limited he is now:

-heavy stoppage loss to Stiverne
-life and death battle with clubfighter Curtis Harper
-lucky draw against Kassi
-life and death battle with mediocre Travis Kauffman, one that many had him losing

It would be funny if Wilder's next opponent is someone who had the result of their last fight overturned because they failed a drug test, and in Chris's case it was the second time that happened. I know it was weed, but that very arguably has effects that can help with training and Arreola should know that it's officially prohibited; him taking it anyways shows contempt for the rules, and a lifetime ban from the sport is clearly warranted

Arreola's performances have always been up and down across his career. SInce the Stiverne loss I think he's lost heart in his work and has looked really poor - but as has already been said - if he can find the motivation for this then he could become a threat. He was looking good against Stiverne until he got pole-axed by a shot that would have turned almost any heavyweight's legs to jelly.

I know the last bit of your post is tongue-in-cheek, but generally speaking what sort of advantages could weed possibly have for a pro boxer? The only thing I can think of would be to calm nerves before a fight, but surely the other side-effects would be massively detrimental and would outweigh any potential benefit?

Audley Harrison and David Price could probably have done with some.

Maybe a few beers as well.

It's been shown to work as a pain killer and can help relieve anxiety. I can see how it would aid someone with recovery in training and help them prepare for a fight without being so bothered by nerves.

I still think it will be Washington in the other corner.

Povetkin wonders the same, if Wilder accepted last year Povetkin could take as much meldonium as he want, if Povetkin accepted in januari he was allowed to have well over 200 times as much meldonium in his body, no problem. And now Wilder and his team cry about 0.070 NANOgram of it lol and it's probably of the list again in no time since the whole substance doesn't work, but the Americans don't know that yet XD.
