My favorite is Errol Spence Jr but I don't trust him stepping into the ring with Marcos Maidana! I believe Maidana makes ANY WW fighter today look

so bad.....He never stops throwing bombs and he aims for top of the head HARD over hand right looping punches hey I bet he'll have Thurman,

Brook, or Porter on the run! :box:

Madaina would have to cut off his right leg to make 147 right now.
He probably will never fight again. But if he does it won't be at welterweight

Marcos was my favorite fighter. And I'd agree with you had I not seen the Alexander fight. Devon had a pretty easy time with Maidana iirc.

Maidana is a dirty ruthless bruiser, if we tallied who has gotten away with the most fouls in the last 5-10 years he's up near the top. I don't think he'd beat Thurman, Brook, or Spence at this point unless he could foul the shit out of them.

Kell Brook, Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, or Shawn Porter would make an fool out of Maidana... They would trash him... Thurman called him out a couple years ago and he hasn't been heard from since... Maidana wouldn't fight Errol Spence to save his life and neither would Floyd - who's a lot better than MM... Maidana lacks a jab. He lacks a defense. He lacks the kind of skill, power, and endurance an all-around fighter like Golovkin has.

Floyd can box obviously.. Spence can box AND punch very well... You saw how even a fight Algieri-Khan was and how a friendly referee was helping Khan constantly as he continuously grabbed and held... Then you saw how Spence almost laughed because he was pounding Algieri out so easily.. Well, if Khan ever fights Spence he'll go out a lot faster than Algieri did... Maidana??? The idea he'd ever fight Spence is a pipedream.

No one would make a fool out of Maidana and he would fight any man put in front of him, he's a proper old school " has gloves will travel" warrior, he's probably one of the most respected fighters of the last decade.

Exactly! Maidana does pretty well in big fights! How he performed against Broner and Mayweather speaks volumes Maidana would give any fighter

trouble and it seems like he performs better in high profile fights. Even in his loss to Mayweather in the rematch he still looked like he belonged in

there with Mayweather....He got those nice paydays from the Broner and 2 Mayweather fights and got lazy  Maidana is eating really good right

now living comfortable in some nice 300K community jumping in his customized chevy silverado heading to the local taqueria for breakfast he's in no

hurry to jump in the ring.

He didn't make Devon Alexander look terrible. Alexander won virtually every round.

Devon Alexander made a fool out of Maidana didn't he??? ... He easily won every round...and then Khan won every round from Alexander.,. Then Khan continued to DUCK Brook, Thurman, and Porter to fight CHERRY PICKED Algieri and that fight was close... Spence smashed Algieri like the skinny overmatched kid didn't even EXIST!!! ... Is Khan is EVER going to fight Brook or Spence???? GTFO!!!! ... He might fight a rematch with the crude swinging Maidana who he already BEAT -- but Brook, Spence, Thurman, or Porter would CRUSH Khan so fast his fragile head would spin.

I agree that a motivated and prepared Madaina is nightmare for any Welterweight. It would seem Madaina quit at the top of his game unfortunately. I remember Madaina was hinting at retirement prior to his fight with Alexander and wasn't motivated through his entire training camp or during the fight. After Madaina stared to train with Garcia, where he was training with other world class fighters he got his competitive spirit back and was much more motivated. I remember reading by one of the posters that Madaina doesn't have a jab? Madaina has a very underrated jab and is one of main reasons he's able to get inside and rough up his opponents.. that's my 2 cents.

I think it's safe mark down Madainas fight agains Alexander as a off night. I'm not making excuses for Madaina, he went into a fight less than 100% mentally and physically prepared against a good fighter and got embarrassed. It was a wake up call for Madaina and the work he put in post Alexander while training with Garcia is the proof. I just wish he would have stuck around longer because he was very good fighter.. but then again I can't blame him either after the money he made fighting Mayweather.

     That's what I've been trying to get at you nailed it! :OhYes: Maidana gets up for the BIG MONEY bouts

and he rises to the occasion...even in his loss to Floyd in the rematch he still looked like he belonged in the ring with Mayweather it wasn't a total

mismatch but you can tell after the 3 money fights he lost his motivation. A motivated Maidana I swear would make Errol & Thurman look not great

at all if Collazo had Thurman running what in the world would a Marcos Maidana to Thurman? Thurman would literally run the entire fight!

Shawn Porter makes fighters look bad. He must be a nightmare to fight. Alexander looked better than he is in out boxing Maidana.

NO Thurman didn't run... Thurman tore Collazo up and stopped him in 7... You guys make a million excuses for Maidana losing every round of the Alexander fight right???? ... What was Maidana's excuse for getting floored by a Khan left hook to the liver??? That made the difference their fight and led to Maidana LOSING to the China-chinned Khan!!!! ... Allow me to make excuses too, if you're going to make them.

The fact IS Thurman had an injured left hand in the Collazo fight and LC knew about it... The commentators even know about the injury and during the fight they talked about it.. Thurman was overthrowing his right because his left hand was in bad shape.. If Thurman were fighting anyone other than Collazo he would have postponed the fight... KT said "I can beat this punk Collazo with one hand." Collazo was a World Welterweight Title holder and beat both Hatton and Berto, but got robbed.. He sat on Thurman's right hand and caught him with a perfect left hook to the liver.. Thurman didn't fall to the canvas like Maidana did... Thurman didn't grab like Mayweather did... and Collazo STILL never landed a good follow up punch... A round later Thurman resumed ripping Collazo with short rights and was hurting him badly... Collazo quit in his corner after 7... The ONLY stoppage ANY World Champion dealt to Collazo ... came at the hands of Keith Thurman.

The only reason Maidana hasn't fought is Thurman was calling him out...and the Welterweight Division is the toughest it's ever been... However you have the DUCK CLUB... Floyd.. Pacquiao.. Khan.. Bradley.. and Maidana -- ducking Brook, Spance, Thurman, and Porter .... Not only that. But Bob Arum said 140-pound King Terence Crawford earned a fight with Pacquiao if he stopped Dierry Jean, 29-1, who nobody else came close to stopping... Crawford looked impressive knocking out Jean and Pacquiao said he would consider fighting him.. But Pacquiao kept floating the name of soft punching Tim Bradley for 2 months ... to terrible feedback from the fans.. Crawford and Arum kept waiting for Pacquiao to make up his mind. After leaving Crawford dangling for 2 months, Pac finally said he was fighting Bradley for the 3rd time -- much to the disgust of fans.

I would say that Maidana is doing the exact opposite of "making WW's look terrible".

Means he's not a real fighter... A boxer who loves the game keeps Boxing for as long as his skills hold up because he enjoys it.

One of the most ignorant posts ever on CS.

Maidana was a professional prizefighter who overachieved his skills and gifts level. He proved his heart over and over. He always did his part to give the fans a great show. He hit the jackpot x 2 and retired with respect and a comfortable nest egg, as well as a reasonable level of brain cells intact.

Thank you Marcos Maidana for giving your all, and congratulations. Enjoy the rest of your life.
