Struggling to comprehend how even the WBO can sanction a defence for Terry against someone who looks so far below world title level.

It's formally announced on Twitter. A former two time world title challenger is true enough but it was a long time ago. He lost to Dean Pithie in 1999 ! Cheap defence and disappointing.

Hey, let's not undersell this one. Fana may be 42, but he is a former two-time IBF super-feather champion. The fact that that was last in 2010 is a minor detail. It would be picky to point out that, since his comeback started in 2012, he has lost fights for the WBO International, the WBA Inter-continental, the WBA Pan-African and African Boxing Union lightweight titles. More relevant are his wins for the WBF International and the South African titles, but what seals the deal for me is that he also holds the Interim WBO Africa lightweight title. So there is plainly nothing wrong with someone in his fifth decade fighting for a world title.

And as Fana also has a number of other prestigious belts from his super-feather days, I hope he brings all of them into the ring in Paul Butler style - if so, either the ring will collapse under the weight of plastic, pleather and cheap metal, or Flanagan will do a double-take and think he is a branch of Timpsons.

I clearly remember Fana getting blasted in two by Barrera who was in the twilight of his career. That was eleven years ago

I was at Terry Flanagan’s fight with Nate Campbell 3 years ago. I couldn’t understand how terrible Campbell looked that night. He was no spring chicken but had just landed the big time yet he did next to nothing.

Cack opponent however this is not a FW show - it's fat Mick Hennessys and I doubt he has provided much of a budget for the undercard ad all the money would be going to Tyson and Wlad. Yes frank probably picked the opponent but it could have been knocked back by fat mick, Steve Wood or even Flanagan himself. Fans maybe 43 but he's probably still better then a lot of the fighters in the WBO top 15- it is however poor from all concerned.

It Just smells of a lack of confidence in his boxer from the promoter /manager ,,,,and a lack of pride from the boxer ... Sort of the way British boxing has been going the last few years ,, Actually come to think about it , the way its been going all over the world in the last few years

I don't really agree with that statement. There's plenty of UK boxers that do not duck and do not lack pride - from amateur to beginner through to pros. I don't see a lot of shows on TV these days but dodgy match-ups there's been plenty....but plenty of heart as well.

It's not like Flanagan is shit either. He's a cracking fighter who could probably beat anyone else in the division but he's fighting this clown.

Terry must be embarrassed with this shambles, his opponent may be coming to the ring with a walking stick.

Obviously FW desperate to avoid the nightmare scenario of his man losing on someone else's show, but stooping to this level also shows he doesn't rate him as highly as he makes out.
