Your thoughts on this? I'm seeing people on Facebook calling Eubank stupid. These are the same people often criticising BJS and Canelo for NOT taking the GGG fight. It's a tall order, but I want to see this happen. If he loses, I'm hoping it's more a Benn vs Watson loss rather than a Watson vs McCallum (in terms of Jnr's ongoing career)

Eubank and Son have been talking about GGG for ages.

On TV about 2 weeks ago -

"It’s now (about) moving up,' Eubank Snr said. 'Junior’s now looking to actually take on the best fighter in the world in Gennady Golovkin and that fight will happen around September.’

It's interesting, because I don't recall Snr ever even DISCUSSING fighting Jones, Toney or McCallum. I think he once said Jones would stuff him out of sight in an interview (during his career, I mean)

He wants to win the British title outright first.

A lot of if's and buts before it happens.

Personally I can't see GGG and Loeffler putting up with all the shenanigans from Sr in negotiating and the fight not happening.

Would he really advise his son to do so?

I think it's just about building Jr's name by mentioning the best, I doubt they will make any serious attempt to make the fight happen.

Can't see it happening. Fair play if they're serious but actions speak louder than words. The Eubanks (especially English) talk far too much.

Was Jnr not in a mandatory position for Jacobs then chose to go for the British? If he had any serious aspirations of facing an elite fighter like GGG then surely a fight against someone like Jacobs is better prep than a British title fight? Jumping from someone like Tom Doran straight to GGG is just silly.

Let's assume, for the sake of an interesting discussion, that it comes off. It says something about GGG that Jnr would probably be his most credible and potentially toughest opponent. What does Jnr need to do to have a chance?

He's done nothing to suggest he's any actual intention of getting in the ring.

Call me a cynic, but there's a lot of people have mentioned GGG, in the hope of some sort of halo effect, without ever actually fighting him.

What should he do to suggest that then? genuinely interested I'm not knowledgeable enough to know....

I'm clearly not clued up about the politics but saying he would like the fight on TV, social media etc is a start surely...what else does he need to do to push it through and make it happen? Honest and genuine question, I don't know the answer

They both seem super confident that he can beat him, don't know what leads them to this conclusion but good luck to him. I can't see him winning but I think he could be the first man in a long long time to take him the distance, that alone would raise his standing significantly, after that I could see him getting the big fights at SM.

Eubank Sr knows his boxing, not for a second would he believe that Eubank Jr, in his current form, would have a hope in hell of beating someone as well rounded, and hard hitting as GGG. It's just talk.

Yet, I believe Eubanks are genuine in their quest to greatness. And I dont think they are capable of this degree of deception. Delusion yes, deception not.

You've clearly forgotten a large portion of Eubank Sr's career then. Much as I admire the man, he had some truly woeful defences, and never attempted to unify the titles, or even discuss it.

The problem for everyone in this division is it's blindingly obvious who the kingpin is. Noone can really hide from the fact GGG is king, or claim to be the 'world champ' without ridicule if someone happens to pick up an interim strap or whatever. Might as well just periodically mention GGG then hope not fighting him can be blamed on whatever random excuse comes up subsequently.

My take is that I'll have much more respect for him than I had for his dad if he steps up and takes it. That said, I think he needs a couple more fights first; someone world class, then BJS, who I have no doubt he would beat this time. Then he may as well go poo or bust, right? I think he's got the chin and the motor to have a chance, but he'd have to close Golovkin down and not let him work. Would be a tall order, and I wouldn't bet on him, but I want to see it.

And regarding the "he never will", how many of us believed Khan would face Canelo?
