Ali best business man? Didn't he basically give away loads of his image rights etc for years until someone stepped in?

I think i read a stat that he made more money than all the previous heavyweight champs combined. P4P he probably made the most money and was a visionary as a self-publicist.

1. Probably Ali.
2. Floyd, so far. There's probably an old timer worth mentioning but it's not coming to me. James Braddock?
3. Greb. No-one has beaten more ATGs.
4. Ali. No-one else anywhere near (Tyson, Floyd, Pacman and George Foreman probably make up the rest of the top 5. Maybe SRL).
5. Roberto Duran. Best combination of attack and defence that I can think of with a focus on attack. It would probably be SRR or Ezzard Charles but there isn't the video evidence of their peaks to confirm it.

most of the guys in here have floyd as best business man, cause he made the most cash. but lets not forget some things. floyd had ellerbe and more importantly haymon. floyd while making big amounts of cash was disliked by so many people and got so much critic. i prefer being a business man, with people liking me and enjoying admiring my product, rather than making a litle more, but have all the drama of people not liking me and finding most of my fights boring. oscar was everything, he could take, he made the big fights happening and made big cash during his career and his arguably now the best or #2 promoter in the world, not bad.

RJJ is a very interesting pick for peak talent. I think it was the 1990s and I knew a bookie at the time, I kept winning a $100 betting Jones on every fight and he eventually got sick of me and hung up when I called.

i mean rjj in the 90, that was a ne liga. the dude was simply to athletic, to fast for anybody. watch the pazienza fight or the one where he did a combo of 13 punches in 2 hal secondes. sad that he didnt get the recognition, he should have had, and dumb for him to not take any challenge where it couldve been prime calzaghe, michalchewski or rematch with hopkins. if we talk straught up talent, roy is on the rare roster with guys like jordan and messi, atg athletes.

A guy like Pernell Whitaker was great too but RJJ was like Whitaker with power. Wish Jones would retire now but at his best he was one of the best all time.

Whitaker had power, not on Roy's level, but he hurt a lot of guys. I can't see a scenario where Roy could beat him with size being equal.

After I wrote that I realized I should have written something like 'relative power'. Ironically I wrote somewhere that Ali's power was underrated, he stopped Bonavena and Lyle which took some doing.
Sweet Pea had some power and good snap, agreed not on an extreme level.

He is the best businessman WHILE fighting. He won't end up being the best business period. I think that belongs to Foreman. Floyd doesn't have any endorsements and there's nothing special about the fighters in his stable.

1: Ali the things he says just out of random are allways fun, he's one of the best heavyweight boxers ever and nobody is in fear while beïng close to him
2: Mayweather, richest boxer ever, by miles and I've never seen a single fight of him.
3: Wilder, he fought nobody, but in 30 years nobody will realise that, look at Ali, if you look at his record carefully, it doesn't seem to be that amazing
4: Mike Tyson, even though I like the story around George Foreman even more
5: Vitali Klitschko the only matches he didn't win were matches he was actually winning, but got injured and he fought top competition.

Floyd being the "best businessman" is a joke. He's pioneered nothing.

I like Foreman. I liked Foreman before liking Foreman was cool.
But I wouldn't rate him as a great businessman as contrary to popular belief he did not invent or market the grill. He was a spokesperson for it.

I easily name champions and top 10 contenders that Wilder hasn't fought. Ali fought everyone in his era who meant anything I can name a single decent fighter from Ali's era that he didn't try to fight unless you count a faded Floyd Patterson.

And somehow, he's made over 200 million being a spokesperson for a grill he didn't even invent or market. That's a businessman to the T
