GB won't be overlooking their amateurs, extra spaces have been allocated for the Pros to Qualify, but Team GB have already said that they won't work with the pros, as have Team USA, Kovalev is going for Russia, not good that.

That's the correct thing to do. I saw Beterbiev said he was interested in representing Russia as well. It's a joke.

I don't agree with pros being allowed to box in the olympics but the top amateur boys would be more than a handful over 3 rounds against most pros and I definitely don't think Eubanks Jr. Would be getting a medal come to think of it he would most likely go out in the 1st round

If the best world class amateurs can't win an amateur fight against a pro then they're not really all that good then are they?

Pros, amateurs, they are all equal human beings with two fists and any resource available. People act like pros come from an alternate universe and are superior species.

Then why have they got qualifiers in South America in about 3 weeks for the pros ? Extra spaces have been allocated for the pros.

I think it's a stupid idea pros in the Olympics.its like a semi pro football team suddenly getting promoted to the premiership ridiculous.

I liked the original approach to the Olympics. It's a games for amateur athletes. Obviously that's been lost over the years and this for me is just another money making exercise, much like allowing tennis and golf in to the games. Just another way of gaining more sponsorship dough and more coverage for the already established pro athletes.

If he does qualify, along with any other established pro, I'll be rooting against them 100%

Predicable Eubank publicity stunt of the week put to one side.....can someone explain to me what the hell this is all about?

I get the sense that the AIBA and the mysterious Dr. Wu are actually chipping away at the pro game from below and are no longer satisfied-content just to be the world governing body for the amateur game.

Is the Olympics (for example) part of a much wider strategy to drag more pros into the AIBA orbit? If you can open the doors to the pros at the Olympics then presumably they could box at the world and European championships as well.

I could be seeing a plot where there simply isn't one; but it seems as if the AIBA with the WSB and now the Olympics is on the march and moving into new areas.

Hope Team GB don't consider letting any pro's go. Just say they will not be selected to compete and kill the stupid idea before it goes anywhere.

Anyway, after seeing Billy Joe toy with Eubank for 7 or 8 rounds, I don't think Eubank would stand a chance of medalling at the Olympics.
