I just came off the phone to allegedly, somewhat unexpectedly as I expected to speak to Richard Maynard.

allegedly stated that the fight was signed and sealed, and that he had a contract with main events which had been signed by all parties. He said he didn't know where Vivian was coming from with the statements of doubt, and suggested ' Ask his people about that.'

I asked him with regard to any problems with TV dates, venue etc, his response was unequivocal if not expansive.

'The fight will go ahead as planned.'

Just thought I would put the other side.

All I could get is that the fight is definetly signed as far as he is concerned, there was a hint in what he said, that he believed that the problem lay with Vivian and main events. Perhaps that is after all the cause of Vivian's outburst. If there are problems with venues or dates, I wasn't able to get Frank to discuss them. I was expecting to speak to Richard Maynard, so it caught me off guard a bit.

As a funny aside. Frank had (I assume) misread an earlier article of mine on maxboxing, where I stated that he looked like he wanted to punch Gary shaw of main events in the mush. You may recall Frank looked less than happy with Gary's attempts to embarass him on camera with regard to a matcup with Sharmba Mitchell.

Frank said to me 'What's this I read about you wanting to punch me in the face then?' To say I was taken aback was an understatement. I of course pointed out that it was a misread.

All in all, allegedly seemed pleased that someone was actually contacting him for his side of the story, which is only fair I suppose.

Frank would have liked re-reading it, James. Does his "I take no shit" reputation no harm at all.

No, I phoned Richard Maynard, and he was on another call, then my phone rang and it was emma something or other, forget her name, she put me on....

oh right. One thing about allegedly, he's not hard to get hold of, which is refreshing. He is a busy man, yet he does find time to do interview etc... I think David Payne was quite surprised at how easy it was to get an interview with Frank.

This fight has to happen - no N'Dou's thanks very much. FW website had a Q&A with Harris too, so it looks the real deal.

Yes, it is surprising. that being the case it is probably quite frustrating when people spread rumours and he hears a lot of chat, without anyone actually contacting him to get his side. He was quite clear that he was available if I wanted to get his side in the future.

I try and keep a balanced view, allegedly is as capable of bending the truth to meet his own ends as anyone else in any business, but as I said before, being on top means you are more of a target, and therefore there will be a lot more accusations and claims made against you. No, I haven't just got a job with Sports Network.

I had always assumed that frank would be 'unavailable for comment' like a lot of other people I've tried to contact in the past.

It's a pity I have to have a stupid bastard day job, it's rarely I get the chance to phone people direct, luckily my boss is off in portugal for three weeks....

I may have to start selling crack again so I can jack the day job in. That's a joke just in case there are any police officers on this forum. If there aren't any on here, anyone wanting some can contact me here.

Yes Frank clearly didn't want this fight. He wanted Spaddy, which would've been what? 60/40 in Hatton's favour?

Harris is probably a slight favorite here. Hatton has the big home advantage ( might not be Micky Van though, being a WBA fight - which is a good thing) but Harris has been matched tougher at light welter.

While Ricky has met some good fighters at 140 - Magee, Tackie and co, Harris has been thrown into a lot more 50/50 fights, and as a result has the true confidence of a "champion".

Yes, Vivian has stepped up the levels before and come through, so his confidence should be there.

I really do hope nothing scuppers this fight, I've been looking forward to Hatton taking that final step, and this is as close to the final step as you can get. Harris may be a shade short of Mitchell's class (maybe not though), but he's a live, hungry, tough and confident fighter with a genuine title belt which he won't want to relinquish.

Yep, allegedly was surprisingly easy to track down. Richard Maynard was also helpful.

I interviewed him about three weeks ago when he said Spadafora was the fight - I was lucky enough to get ten minutes as he drove to Wales.

So even with the best intentions, these things do change.

good work James, nice one. Ive said before Ive found SN pretty helpful in my dealings with them which are very limited at this stage. So can only go by what Ive encountered. Its good to hear the fight is sealed perhaps people should cut FW / SN a little bit more slack from time to time?

If the fight takes place kudos to Warren for getting it signed. I've had a go at him enough a little praise required if this one does materialise.

I think that the majority of us owe him the same. If we're going to slag him off when he gets things wrong, we've got to be willing to give the man credit when he gets it right. I think i'll save my praise until i see the two blokes in the ring though.

For me that 'final step' would be one of Mayweather, Judah or Tszyu, for me they are the top top 3. But yes Harris is as near as dammit.
