Was Keith or Shawn in a training camp for a fight back then ?
Porter came in to help Thurman get ready for Maidanaapollo creed wrote:Was Keith or Shawn in a training camp for a fight back then ?
Do you know when he supposed to fight Maidana?SFW wrote:Porter came in to help Thurman get ready for Maidanaapollo creed wrote:Was Keith or Shawn in a training camp for a fight back then ?
July of 2012. Team Maidana pulled out of the negotiations because they wanted a tune up, not a tough fight. They mentioned how big Thurman was, and something about he should actually be a super welter. Maidana would fight anyone, but think he wasn't 100% physically or mentally at that time. Like the old saying goes, too high of a risk vs low reward at the time.apollo creed wrote:Do you know when he supposed to fight Maidana?SFW wrote:Porter came in to help Thurman get ready for Maidanaapollo creed wrote:Was Keith or Shawn in a training camp for a fight back then ?

True. Hungry, totally different fighter. Maidana at his best is big trouble for any guy his weight. Garcia brought out the best in him.Counter-puncher wrote:Fair point. The maidana who fought Floyd first time gives Thurman a going over anyway.

Thurman would knock Maidana out cold... It's the short shots he throws that nearly had Guerrero out in a shutout... but Thurman had a major swelling on his forehead from a tough headbutt in an early round that one, so he was focused on protecting that injury more than a KO. He's got a brutal short right and left hook that took out Diego Chaves for his only KO loss... Maidana would be right in his wheel house because he swings wide.Badhusker wrote:True. Thurman also wouldn't manage to time Maidana as well as Floyd, so the 'power' of Thurman would be moot, mostly.lefty wrote:Counter-puncher wrote:Fair point. The maidana who fought Floyd first time gives Thurman a going over anyway.
Fair point although Thurman hits a lot harder than Floyd. Maidana wasn't fearful of Floyd's punching power and thus took more chances than I'm stud he would against a fellow puncher.
Thurman is a pretty decent counter puncher in his own right though.Counter-puncher wrote:Thurman also wouldn't manage to time Maidana as well as Floyd, so the 'power' of Thurman would be moot, mostly.lefty wrote:Counter-puncher wrote:Fair point.
