Gennady is not happy at all.

Saying that, it's hard to know who to believe.

Golovkin, while dominant, hasn't had a superfight in his life.

As for Ward, he appears to have given up boxing all together & seems to rather like talking about the sport, rather than participating in it, which is sad as he is one of boxing's finest exponents.

If these two really wanted to fight, they'd have done it by now.

Golovkin has cleaned out the MW division, at least of folk that are willing to fight him & Ward doesn't appear to be doing much with himself.

The two of them are just a symptom of what is wrong with boxing these days.

I'm not sure how reliable that source is tbh. But regardless, if Ward steps up to fight Kovalev as agreed then there'll be no doubting his ambition.

I believe he will do just that, while Golovkin continues to fight overmatched oponents.

I personally feel it was/is Golovkins team that prevented the Ward fight from happening. If GGG had been prepared to step up to 168 i see no reason why Ward would have avoided him.

Ward style beats GGG.

GGG ducked him. Ward is fighting a bigger and better oponnent this year. GGG will prob fight Heiland or Turano Johnson.

I'm pretty sure Golovkin's not scared of Ward at all, but he knows how much losing would set his career back, and it's a tall order if Ward's allowed to combine his technical ability with his natural size advantage. Golovkin'd win tons of respect for the win, but then what?

As a perfect way to conclude G's career, sure. But a loss would affect his image and earning potential, and a win would see many calling him a bully for returning to middle. I'd love to see it, of course.

Part of me doesn't want Golovkin to fight Ward. I love seeing Golovkin destroy people. It would really burst my bubble to see Ward spoil and avoid his way to a decision.

Here here....not a fan of ward from an entertainment point of view. Not one for the casual fan, very dull. GGG has taken over as my favorite international fighter from Pacman, always entertaining and hard as nails.

As you are aware, the idea is that seeing him fight back would be preferable

I'm sure he'll hit him back often enough to win most rounds....

I find it bemusing to say a loss would set GGs career back. The man is riding high. Surely you can’t go from up there to being derailed simply by losing to a top opponent! Boxing is nuts.
The football equivalent would be like losing to Man United and saying “right, season’s f*cked...”. Boxing is weird.
In any event, win or lose, Golovkin would still be huge.

Boxing fans are fickle. I have little doubt that if GGG moved up and lost an 8-4/7-5 decision to the significantly bigger man in Ward, who also happens to be a great fighter, there would be many shouts of 'exposed' and GGG's stock would drop quite a bit.

The mentality towards losses is much better in MMA, and that may well be one reason the matchmaking is generally better.
