It's just me who thinks Thurman is overrated ?!

IMO Thurman has 2 decent wins in Chaves and Bundu. I can't understand the hype behind of his power . Brook and Porter are much proven as welters.

I think Thurman will beat Porter but there is nothin special about him. Just an awkward runner who can punch pretty well when he has the balls to plant his feet and stop moving backwards.

I'd say Chaves, Guerrero and Bundu. Porters best wins are Alexander, A shot to shit Malignaggi and Broner. Brooks only significant win is Porter. I wouldn't say there's tons between them in turns of victories.

Thurman is definietly one of the best in the division. Saturday night will tell is more.

I think Porter learnt more from the Brook loss than Thurman learnt by TKO some washed up fighters. I'd say Porter's win over Broner is underrated and Broner is no walk in the park plus the fact Porter fought Broner at 144 lbs.

Anyway I have to give Thurman a fair shake because he will fight a top welter in Porter. Same for Brook who will fight Vargas to unify titles. The big question is if Cherry Garcia will dare to fight one of the winners ?

None of the current Welterweight Top 10 have an especially deep resume because they won't fight each other. The deepest resume of the current active Welterweights belongs to Tim Bradley by 1000 miles.

Bradley is one of the biggest duckers and cherry-pickers in Boxing... He's been ducking Thurman for years and also ducked out of a Brook fight... Do you think Bradley would fight Spence??? ... Thurman knocked Chaves out, so who does Bradley fight??? Chaves... Vargas just scored a career best victory. NOW he's a top grade opponent... When Bradley fought him he hadn't beaten anyone good and hadn't scored a KO in YEARS!!!!

Overrated?

I'm not sure. He very well might be the best welter in the world, so can you call that overrated?

But if you're rating him on an elite level, like against now retired fellow welter champs Mayweather and Pacquiao, he really doesn't compare.

And he certainly isn't "another Tommy Hearns" as early reviews gushed.

In his last 3 fights, Thurman appears to have taken his foot off the accelerator, cruising to decisions over Bundu (who he should have knocked out) and Guerrero (who gave him hell over the last 3 plus rounds).

And he looked totally uninspired against past his prime Collazo, who had Thurman in dire straits with a body shot.

I still think he's better than Porter, who walks into too many shots. But Thurman better up his game Saturday night or the 2-1 underdog might spring a surprise.

He fought Juan Manuel Marquez straight off of his knockout of Manny Pacquiao. He fought Pacquiao 3 times...a fight with Pacquiao is worth infinitely more than a fight with Thurman. He's never ducked Thurman because he's never been offered a fight with Thurman. If he was I guarantee you he'd fight him in a heartbeat.

Do I think Bradley would fight Spence? No...I KNOW Bradley would fight Spence.

Bradley is a warrior. He's not afraid of anybody. He's not the best Welterweight out there I don't think, but he's a real fighter, and he's willing to fight the best because he wants to prove he's the best.

If Spence or Thurman were to want to fight him next I have absolutely no doubt Tim would jump at the opportunity. I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo came calling for Bradley. Fighting smaller men is kinda Canelo's thing...and Tim Bradley would say yes too, because he's a real fighter.

Yeah I think its hard to shit on Bradleys resume- this is a guy that's fought

Witter (who was still in his prime at the time)
Alexander (when he was undeafeated)
Pacquaio ×3
Marquez
Vargas
Chaves
Rios
Provodnikov
Peterson

.... the list goes on.

I don't think he's overrated, and after his string of back-foot performances it seems to me like there aren't many people who are still very high on him.

He's good but nothing special IMO.

I personally still think he'll end up being a top 3/5 welterweight though. I'd give him a good shot against the current crop. I think Spence is definietly a style matchup for him though- he's not looked comfortable with aggressive southpaws (when Guerrero and Collazo adopted that strategy) so its hard to imagine him fairing well against Spence. Then again I think most of the welterweights are gonna end up having a hard time with him. I'm not as high on him as a lot of others are (more a style preference than anything) but he'll be a tough fight for any of the top names at present.

I think Thurman is the best of the current Welterweights.

I think Crawford would beat any of the current Weleterweights including Thurman.

I have now just f*cked up both of their respective careers

Back on business, I do think that Thurman will dominate Porter this Saturday. But we'll see.......

power 10

athletism 7

so yeah, a bit overrated, since athletism place a big factor in how the boxer is capable to moves on his feet, upper body movemant etc

spence #1 ww

I think he is underrated. You will see it when he boxes Porters head off. Just dont expect an action fight or a knock out.

The future of this division is between Thurman and Spence. Perhaps Brook can have a say if he is arsed to fight anyone top.

Thurman moves quicker on his feet than Spence who IMO is a little flat footed.

There's no way Thurman is a 10 in power by any reasonable standard.

Thurman was real impressive but he look like he slipped.
Don't see him being able to hang at all with no bud Crawford, spence, Vasquez or maidana.
He can beat porter. That porter looked bad against Broner

I wouldn't say he's overrated. When he was coming up the hype was a bit to much. The KO power he possesses isn't one punch power at the top level. Also a lot of hype that was on Thurman is now on Spence.

Without a doubt, overrated. Completely agree. Just another one of these boxers that anoints themselves as the best and he gets people to buy into it. Never proven it in the ring.

I like Thurman. This Saturday should answer some questions. But, the fact remains... as with any fighter, if you are skeptical and dislike Thurman right now, little will change that opinion no matter what he does.

Spence stalks. Thurman kinda bounces/jitters around. basically, its mentality-as-footwork, if you know what i mean.
