Apparently agreed to for August 6th. Brand was mentioned as a possible opponent for what eventually became the Smith and Barrera fights, and it seems that for some reason Ward has wanted to face him.

Shabranskyy wanted the same pay as Sullivan Barrera received, but Ward's management offered him just half as much.

But a journeyman like Brand who has nothing to lose is usually willing to fight for less money.

Why doesn't Ward fight a light heavyweight? There are lots available. For example, Gonzalez would give him a better workout than the smaller Brand.

If thats true Roc Nation should be reprimanded. Shabransky would have been a nice little fight and a good preparation for Kovalev, plus would help build up that fight. RN work as a boxing promotion has been pretty shambolic so far.

Fighting another super middle weight? One wonders if Ward is serious about fighting Kovalev at all.

It could have been billed as a "title fight" , and Brahmer is a solid light heavyweight.

Can't argue at the opponent.

Not going to take a risk 3 months before Kovalev and needs a warm up.

Chilemba is more of a journeyman.

Ward's team offered Cleverly the fight and he accepted but Ward got cold feet and now chose this bum, Ward doesn't deserve the Kovalev fight and I hope he'll be making less money because over the last 5 years he's done fornicate all to deserve a big money fight.

He also had a SIGNED CONTRACT with Goossen ... Just wait 4-5 months and see Ward pulling something.

I don't think it will be any kind of competitive fight. Brand isn't a LHW, but is willing to take a beating for the money. If this is supposed to be another fight to help Ward acclimate to Light Heavyweight, It doesn't hit the mark. Brand never fought a LHW fight in his life before. It's a drop off from Ward's last opponent.
