i would like to know if there has been any double knockouts in a title fight?

when both boxers get counted out at the same time.

if so what happens to the title, is it declared vacant?

There have been several instances of double knockdowns. Probably the most famous would be the Leroy Murphy-Chisanda Mutti double knockdown in their IBF cruiserweight title fight in 1985. Both men landed simultaneously in the 12th and went down heavily. Referee Larry Hazzard counted over both men till Murphy dragged himself up in time. He propped himself in a corner, hurt and exhausted, as Mutti remained down and out.

Rahman and Sanders had a similar incident, though I think Rahman managed to grab hold of the ropes to stop himself falling, while Corrie tumbled to the canvas.

damn, i need to get that fight! what if both stayed down? i guess it would be a draw or a no contest?

Silkov has the fight on tape. It was thrilling all the way through. Murphy was out of shape but classy, while Mutti was superfit and determined. But Mutti just couldn't break Murphy's spirit. It was a scheduled 15-rounder, by the way. Men from the boys stuff.

i remember a very old fight i think it was Wolgast v Rivers??

when there was a double knockdown.The Ref who was a friend of Wolgast helped him to his feet then counted out Rivers.

yeah, i`ve seen and read about this fight, its infamous.
the refs name was jack welch and in the 13th the challenger, mexican joe rivers, who was clearly winning the fight landed a right flush on wolgasts chin, wolgast landed a low blow at the same time.
the referee welch, who was a friend of the champion wolgast helped him to his feet and counted rivers out.
years later the timekeeper said the round was over before the count was completed so they were both in fact saved by the bell, but in the mayhem after the bout this was overlooked.
amazingly wolgasts next fight was exactly the same, but this time he was DQ`d.
sadly wolgast lost his memory and eventually ended his days in a asylum for the insane, delarious, he spent the rest of his life convinced he was training to meet joe gans who had died years before.
his most regular visitor was mexican joe rivers.

Was this the fight where they caught each other in the knackers and struggled to beat the count? Remember reading about it years ago but I am drunk on sun and vodka :P
