What's he on about? Superleague is massively entertaining. I love watching the league 'hits' - and the punch-ups ain't half bad too. Barry McDermott's right hand wouldn't disgrace a pro ring. I really thought he and Stuart Fielden were going to get it on the other day. That would have been fun.

scully and farrell going at it a few weeks back was pretty entertaining, if only we could convert Sculthorpe to an (union) outside centre and all woodwards backline problems would slot into place. Great player hard as nails too

Good old McDermott, the one-eyed monster. Fielden would batter the poor sod, all he'd have to do would be sneak up on Barry's blind side.

Inverdale = smug git, full of his own self-importance.

Worst thing is little Botham, London's "last minute goal-kicking hero" is on loan from Leeds.

Farrell's nose has been busted more times in the last few weeks than is good for him. Yeah, Scully is class (and Farrell). Nathan Wood also makes things happen.

A good game of league can be enjoyable - but so many games are dominated by defences and there is often very little action in the first half. (Union is going the same way mind!)

Union is a far more interesting game as it offers more than just tackling IMO.

I like watching the Aussie league games though - generally a much higher standard of running rugby is played and they are certainly no less physical - just more talented with the ball in hand.

Talking of punches - did anyone see the right hand Cannon landed on Mealamu (NZ vs Aus - Hooker Vs Hooker) the other day - talk about a peach!!!

Fair play to Mealamu though - he just sucked it up and piled into Cannon.

I agree union is a far more techinical and skilful game but I would say league is harder and generally fitter, though its not such a gap as it used to be.,
I prefer a decent game of union anyday but I do like a league too. SOme real barnstomers last year involving the saitns, tho I follow wigan.

I once had a chat with Martin Herdman, a pro boxer who also played rugby league for London before it was really established in the capital. He said boxing was obviously more dangerous than league - but league is physically tougher.
He said he couldn't move the day after a league game.

True. It's a bag of shite. The sub-editors are the best in the business though. Had to laugh at this morning's headline as Newcastle signed Kluivert: "Clog on the Tyne". Nice one.

yeah was an awful game due to the conditions, i must admit i watched it huingover on the couch dozing in and out of consciousness.

As a spectacle I'd sort of agree with Southpaw, that rugby is a bit wank. I just can't get into it. But those at the top of the game are some of the toughest cookies you're ever likely to find.
