Will he have to face Joseph Parker next who is ranked number 1 or will AJ get to choose whom he faces next once again?

Parker has a fight towards end of July so if the IBF inform AJ that he has to face number 1 next im sure it could be in October sometime.

I reckon it will be Parker.

He's clearly a good prospect but he showed enough weaknesses in the Takam fight that Hearn/Joshua will probably think its best to fight him early before he gains more experience.

Joshua obviously lacks experience too, but has 2" height, 6" reach and around 10-15lbs in weight over Parker.

Totally agree.

At first I thought Joshua would walk through Parker, but the more I think about it the more I'm unsure. I still think Joshua wins but it could be a brutal war while it lasts. I feel like Parker will show a lot of heart and will have more than his share of success.

Parker got less stamina, is relatively slow, small and not as strong as Joshua.
I expect such a fight to become similar like the Breazeale fight, except that Parker is a bit more fast as Breazeale and might avoid a few more hits, so it will take longer.

A bit faster? Parker is waayyyyyyy faster than Breazeale, especially when it comes to hand speed. He's shown defensive lapses, and I'm not sure he's durable enough to get away with these against AJ, but he'd still be a nice step up from the underwhelming fatties AJ has been drilling.

I wonder how much Parker would make for this. It's an extremely dangerous fight for him (one I expect him to lose) and in a world of fickle boxing fans could set him back quite a bit if he's handily beaten. He's still very young for a HW and could easily be built up against lesser foes.

I predict a period of intense humbleness for Joshua, followed by a number of quotes about how he's staying at home with his mum, but keeping up his training as he's just in boxing to please the fans. Then a further period of humbleness. Followed by an announcement that he's fighting the most dangerous US opponent in the rankings, number 5 rated Andy Ruiz.

Hearn explains in the press conference that Ruiz is unbeaten, and the Humble one wants to clean out all the American heavyweights, building up and forcing a Deontay wilder fight. As everyone knows that traditionally the heavyweight champion has been America's domain and that America is where the big money is and blah blah blah.

There then follows a period where Joshua is very humble, speaking only to state that he's fighting purely for the fans..… and then proceeds to batter yet another overmatched American with a lovely pair of tits and the circus continues.

Spong would probably win against Breazeale.

Joshua KNOWS of Parker and has been WATCHING Parker. He says it on youtube A LOT. We can say what we want but the fact is Joshua has a respect for Parker cos he KNOWS Parker will be difficult.

It would be a step up for both fighters. As either one could win. Its not one sided as people think. Parker has the fastest hands in the division as said by many. Parker has yet to be wobbled. Weve seen Joshua clearly wobbled. Either fighter can win.

Parker would get destroyed by Joshua and I say that as someone that isn't a Joshua fan boy.

From what I gather (from the Hearns Show on IFL) Joshua's mandatory kicks in after November 30th so he can defend against whoever before then. I was drunk, or hungover, when I watched so I could be mistaken.

It wouldn't surprise me if we saw David Price get in two quick wins this summer & some 'beef' occurs & they meet in early November in Liverpool on a joint card with Bellew v Craig Kennedy or someone, plus a host of Smiths.

While I'm on the subject, what is a group of Smiths known as?

Gaggle? Platoon? Troop? Flange? Pandemonium? Swarm? Bevy? Ambush?

He's got the showtime deal so I expect to see a American in the opposite corner.

If they want Mr. Humble to humble another mediocre yet unbeaten American there's Gerald Washington, although I'm hoping for someone better. Doesn't Hearn have a close relationship with Sauerland? What about Pulev?

He'd learn a fair bit more from a fight with Pulev but I am guessing that unless they travelled to Europe (which they don't need to) the fight really is not a money-spinner or the kind of match-up that gets the generalist sports fan buzzing.

Parker's not exactly box-office over here either but he's younger, an Englsh-speaker which definitely helps sell a fight and probably prepared to travel to the UK as well.

Pulev is a better development fight but I think Hearn will give us Parker or another mediocrity from the states that won't please anyone except for his bank manager.

With the Sky hype machine in full effect Parker is as box office as they come.

Unbeaten, young and fancied by some.

There seems to be a bit of hype in the papers for David Price to get a shot at AJ, would be a cheap and easy fight to make and of course a grudge match ready for PPV with a stacked card

Oh it would definitely be stacked, with plenty of 100-1 on mismatches.

Grudge match? Since when? Since someone posted on a forum that he thinks Price knocked AJ cold in sparring? Price doesn't remotely deserve a title shot, no matter how paper the title is!
We here might like it for novelty value but there would be plenty more who'd rightly pick holes in it.

Pulev would be decent. He beat Del Boy with a bit to spare recently, so Sky can talk that up a bit.
If it's constantly going to be PPV then they need to start upping the quality. Martin was shite, Breazale was brave but outclassed. Next up they need a bonafide top 10/15 guy who will give Joshua a bit to think about. Pulev will give him that I think.

If he beats him then Parker. Then if it all pans out nicely for both...Joshua v Fury. Lots and lots and lots of dough.
