Anyone else prefer watching boxing on TV versus being there live?

I haven't been to tons of live shows admittedly but I tend to prefer watching it on TV from a comfort perspective, the view I get, etc - the only thing I personally feel that TV can't compete with is the atmosphere obviously.
I'm curious to whether anyone else feels the same way?

The problem with live shows are the dickheads usually following some one from their home town shouting out insults and with a clear lack of boxing IQ, So TV for me but the atmosphere at live shows can be amazing

Live shows all the way.
The hairs on my neck stand on end when at a really big show and Buffer starts his introductions....

Ive been all the pro shows up in Dundee,4 or 5 all involving Ronnie Clark and they've all been great nights and i've been to a few other ones in Scotland plus as i was at Frampton/Quigg in Manchester which i made a pudendum off by getting steaming and not taking the whole occassion in,i ended up watching the card again on youtube as i forgot loads, including none of Gavin McDonnell
I go to most amatuer shows in Dundee too as my Dad sponsors fighters and there always cracking nights, was at a good one in Glasgow too a few years which my old man sponsored Davie Drummond's last amateur fight, that was a belting night too
But all in all i much prefer watching it in the comfort of my own house, preferebly alone,i never go out to watch boxing at mates anymore because 9 times out of 10 you have to beg them to leave the undercard on because they want to put music or something on,only a select few of my mates will i invite up,it all sounds a bit precious but i like scoring fights and if you've got a load of coked up drunkerds blethering in your lughole then you get distracted
Jeez im a sad twat

Live is amazing, but like someone has said you get the dickheads sometimes so that puts me off.I'd never go to another stadium as it's just too big or expensive,so i prefer tv nowadays.

Dunno which I prefer. I don't get to as many shows as I'd like to nowadays but I always enjoy it when I do. I love my nights in at the weekend with a few beers and a takeaway with a fight to watch. My two oldest boys are starting to get in to it as well which is nice to see.
Both options are what you make of them.

My position is - if you have good seats, live is better. Otherwise TV.

So your position depends on your position?

All about where you're sat. I've literally leaned on the ring apron a few times and I've also sat high up in stadiums. Stadiums are crap. I wouldn't do upper tier arenas, either. You really can get a different perspective on a fight when you're right on top of the action. I've rewatched fights the following day and seen it totally differently.

That makes sense to be fair.

Ive never been ringside. Ive either been in the ring or at the back of the crowd.
Because of watching a lot of sparring, Id rather be ringside not at the back or in the middle but ringside.

Yeah I agree with that. The 02 is a crap place for boxing, way too far from the action, and zero atmosphere.

T.V is better for seeing everything but, like u say, live is good for the atmosphere. Iv been to loads of live shows and payed for ringside seats only to have a ringpost in my way of the action and the cheap seats get a great view then again it was a matchroom show and we all know how the hearns love ripping the fans off

One of the differences is that live ringside you can feel the hear the power more than on TV especially with the bigger fighters,

You get a better view on T.V but don't get the full experience like watching boxing live. If I had a choose I would go live every time, just to soak the atmosphere up more than anything.

I prefer watching it on the TV now. I haven't been to a live show since 2014. I used to literally attend dozens of shows every year (small hall, arena shows and shows abroad). It's a lot more civilised at home

For arena shows, yes. Recent showing s seem to have a larger concentration of coked up blends than in times past. Much prefer the small hall atmosphere. Actually supportino fighters without the need for drunkenness and general thuggery.

I've seen loads of cokeheads at small hall shows too.

not having a pop, just saying. I went to one at York Hall, it was a local lad and some lad from Luton I think, Christ it was scrary, the place was awash with coked up swivel eyed lunatics just itching for a fight.
