Had trouble in his prime with Larry Holmes...Holmes was cheesing in the corner    Then he juiced his entire

career for all of his big fights that's why he had that heart condition. He juiced for Douglas, Tyson, Bowe, Moore, Lennox, Mercer. etc...

Holyfield used to be one of my favorite boxers but I cant get around the fact that he is likely the worst cheat in boxing history. When you factor in his obvious steroid abuse with all of the headbutts, low blows, elbows, etc. that helped him win fights I cant give the guy a pass. He shouldnt be allowed anywhere near a HOF.

Thanks! Glad to see I'm not alone. That's why he had that hypertrophy condition his heart became a large muscle as well with all the steroid

abuse.... :shame: I believe he really really really juiced up even moreso for the Douglas, Mercer, and both Tyson fights. But he shows up like

a saint surrounding the ear bite controversy like Mike is so much the villian who's begging to be forgiven. Holyfield holds out his hand to be kissed

basically by Tyson on Oprah. All in while he juiced up for their fights. Tyson may have juiced at times as well but it's really obvious that Holyfield

juiced his ENTIRE career all the way up the Valuev fight. The guy never stopped juicing. How you go from cruiserweight to a heavily stacked

225lbs of pure muscle and able to sustain that mobile and agile ability? Whatever.....He was a rabid PED user.

please point me to the fights where he
excessively and intentionally fouls. i tried
to find it but in the end always thought it
was exaggerated. like in the tyson fights.
it was his style to put his head down to
protect the chin, put he hardly ever went
forward with the head while doing that in
a way that seemed intentional head butting
to me.

The most egregious head butt in the Tyson fights was delivered by Tyson.

This is what I have thought for years. You hear that he headbutted a lot, but never specifically when.

He, the great Evander Holyfield, was pretty small in my view if he was using steroids. All those guys were bigger than he, steroids or not.

well, in all fairness, if there ever was
a boxer (aside of shannon briggs),
who looked like he roided, it was the
evander.

and the one where he complained to the
ref (and that opened a cut if i recall correctly)
was actually result of his own head going
forward, not evander's.

Yup, the ref saved him from getting his head ripped off. Evander was definitely on something, a good clue was training with Lee Haney for the move to Heavy. Then again, so was everyone else.

my take: if this is the best evidence
for excessive head butting someone
who seems really angry with evander
can come up with, then it seems this
is pretty clearly a non case.

Thank you gentlemen for saying it for me. You'll never find a single mention on tape or in magazine of an Evander Holyfield headbutt until Team Tyson pulled the alibi out of their collective asses in the run up to Tyson/Holyfield II. Now the Holyfield headbutt story is as common as an unfilmed sighting of the Loch Ness Monster. One day someone is going to mark exactly where these phantom headbutts are in the two Tyson fights. We all know where the Tyson headbutt is. And we can also can clearly identify the times Tyson was guilty of elbows, shoulders, low blows and punching after the bell vs the likes of Bruno, Ruddock and, yes, Holyfield. But Holyfield himself butting? Lewis cried about the same thing when he wasn't able to destroy 'little' Evander. Where are these bloody headbutts?

No, he did. His weight lifting and cardio regimen was other worldly. He was one of the finest conditioned athletes on the earth in the late 80's.he used to do sets on the bench with 360 and immediately jump up on stacked cinderblocks until his heart rate went to like 190.

The odyssey of Evan Fields … the assumed name Holyfield used for his steroid purchases, has yet to be fully explained by Holyfield.. However...Evander smeared Tyson recently when Evander went public with a conversation he had with one of the guys selling him PEDs.. “He said Mike Tyson was a big purchaser of PEDs too.”

When the media asked Holyfield “What is the name of the PED dealer who told you of Tyson’s involvement with PEDs.” Holyfield said, “The guy is still around and might sue me if I release his name. The last thing I need is another law suit. He could always deny he said that.”

boxing is a sport where people do all
kinds of things to get an advantage.
from drinking blood to psyching out
opponents in any possible way. plus
it is the sport with the by far shortest
working time for the highest ranked
people per year. on top of that a single
little mistake can destroy a career or
at least throw an athlete back by years.

combine all of this with the amount
of money a team can make within
36 minutes or less and you have your
answer whether boxing is most likely
a clean sport or not. i for one have
very little doubt that each and every
top ten fighter of the last twenty
years in one or the other way and
one or the other time used illegal
methods to enhance his performance.

i do not think this is a good thing,
but it is reality. yes, evander most
likely used one or the other PED.
when he was 50 he looked chiseled
like at 35. but the others were no
angels either.

Lewis jumped up 14lbs when he joined with Manny Steward. Tyson paid Ruddock rather than take a steroid test. Why people fixate exclusively on Holyfield puzzles me.

As stated by pretty much the majority of them, most of the 90s guys were on steroids.

Evander was the harderst working fighter of the decade, its not his fault that he juiced as everyone else but his hard work made his physique look way better than most of his rivals.

If you know anything about bodybuilding and Lean body Mass / Height Ratio, you know that the Klitchskos are on steroids, you know that Tyson WAS on steroids, you know (as he admitted) that Tommy Morrison was on steroids.

So dont blame a manufactured heavyweight with a lot of heart and will to win to take the same PEDs everyone else was taking, wonder why he never got caught in any test? Because Test were a Joke in pro-boxing during that time.

Knowing this do you really think any other top 10 heavy would not take this advantage? There is no injustice if EVERYONE is on the juice.

So stop hating on Evander, never a true born heavyweight, outweighed by all o his heavyweight opponents, and the only 4th time HW Champ.

Top 10 HW ATG.

I do not get why anyone considers Evander overrated.

The best cruiserweight so far. 2 wins over Tyson... when it was still a big achievement. Trilogy with Bowe - exciting, even if lost. 8 fights against ATG. And with proper scoring, he should be the oldest (I guess) titleholder after Valuev fight.
