Tough question, I think Joshua is the only really good heavyweight and Washington looks a level below the next group. He's still fairly new to the sport so I guess he could improve even at his advanced age for a prospect. Short answer no.

He looked good against Chambers. Dont think he lost a round but probably had more to do with Chambers looking AWFUL. Now hes fighting Ray Austin's corpse, who will look even worse than Chambers looked.

I couldn't sit through more than 2 or 3 Rds of that fight. I got Nguyen now. Gotta go.

Chambers offered nothing, and I had Mansour beating him, although it was close.

I think he fits in with guys like Breazeale, Martin, Mansour, and Molina, and I don't see any of them as serious threats to the top guys.

How long is the athletic commission going to allow Ray Austin to keep fighting?

It's not like he generates dollars like Roy Jones still sorta does. Someone save Ray from himself.

He is in stage for building record for one money fight. That's the reason his is not fighting Wilder tomorow...no reason to get KOed for peanuts (and the whole event is for peanuts).

I believe his money fight is coming soon, he is 34yo after all.

I think he's just a tiny bit better as Breazeale, but that's really it.

Agree with the posts, he is top 30 level, so will just look at staying unbeaten and getting a shot/payday and then maybe hang around for a couple of fights as a ladder fight for someone else.

He has a good package for heavyweight boxing...

6 feet 6....and when he steps on scale he shows good shape. In Heavyweight Division not a regular thing.

Yes only 17 Fights...i see no Big Name in his record...Mansour Draw didn't wonder me...Mansour can fight.

I hope we will see better opponents in the future. He is 34 it's time to go up.

I could see him giving Joshua problems. He's more athletic than Breazeale and Martin. He doesn't take a lot of punishment. He's never stationary in the ring. He has KO power. The only knock is he's still learning on the job.

Washington is formidable because of his size, but doesn't do anything particularly spectacular, and gasses out after about 5 rounds. He's a big guy who's hard to hit clean, but he doesn't seem to pack much firepower himself, and never looks all that spectacular. He'll be able to give a difficult time to a lot of Heavyweights out there, but I don't see him ever being a Titleholder. He'll get a title shot though at least I figure.

He could probably book a fight with the 5th or 6th best heavyweight in the world and then lose it in wide or dominant fashion, if that's what you're asking.

Washington is a good athlete turned fighter.
It's pretty obvious that he's learning on the job. Early on, against mostly suspect opposition he looked like a puncher as he was knocking out a lot of cans, but once he stepped up & began to fight live opposition he turned into a rather dreadfully dull jabber & mover. Making for some really ugly fights.
But, he's been effective for the most part. I really expected Eddie Chambers to test him & picked him to win, but unfortunately, those two or three years that he spent in the UK as a sparring partner for Tyson Fury, fighting no hopers on his undercards pretty much ruined him.
He went from being arguably the best heavyweight in the US & a top contender to tentative, ineffective old man who couldn't pull the trigger. It was clear in the Washington bout that he was past it & had developed a sparring partner's mentality. It was sad to see as I was a big fan of his.
IMO, Chambers just lost interest after getting robbed against Tomasz Adamek.
But, back to the subject at hand, Washington is athletic enough & has enough of an awkward skillset to be troublesome for some contenders. At least until someone actually reaches his chin. Then we'll see what he's all about. IMO, he hasn't been tested yet that way as Mansour was never really able to land cleanly on him because of his non-stop movement.
