Coming up this month. Alvarez is a -600 favorite. The books obviously think Dawson is finished.

Given that Alvarez, Beterbiev, Fonfara, and Stevenson are all with Haymon, it sucks that we've only seen one bout between any of those guys (which was a good scrap).

As for this fight, I think Alvarez should win comfortably. Perhaps Chad isn't as bad as he looked against Karpency, but this level is probably too much for him now.

I can't see Dawson do better than winning 5 rounds, which will not be enough to win in Quebec.

I just re-watched Dawson's last fight against Cornelius White and he doesn't look that bad, his speed still appears to be there.

The fight has been cancelled. Dawson injurred his shoulder lately. GYM is trying hard to find him an opponant.

That shoulder cost him the Karpency fight. Getting old sucks.

What about Joe Smith, the guy that just blitzed Fonfara? There's no reason a highly ranked contender like Alvarez should been facing Dawson at this point anyway. Dawson has a long way to go to prove he deserves another big fight.

Smith ain't taking this fight on a weeks notice. He's a beltholder.

Didn't realize it was in 1 week. Yea in that case it's gonna be a can. Maybe they can get Darnell Boone in there, he's probably available on short notice and he's often surprisingly competitive.

He's not that old though to be fair. A 70 yr old would laugh at that lol. I understand what you mean though in regards to being a competitive athlete.

Alvarez will fight Robert Berridge instead.

Berridge is an easy fight for Alvarez.

No one who takes his record seriously is going to step-in on a week's notice. In the future, Alvarez needs to try to avoid pulling the Deontay and planning a fight against TBD for months but only giving his opponent a week to prepare. For his next fight, if he schedules it right, I'd like to see him fight Beterbiev, Joe Smith, Fonfara, or Pascal.

It's not Alvarez fault if Dawson got injurred. His fight was planned a while ago.
