For everyone contacting me regarding Ronnie Clark v Michael Roberts for the Scottish Super Featherweight Title, we were informed yesterday through MGM Scotland (who also wanted the fight) that M R Jnr is a fully fledged featherweight and would not be taking up the challenge. personally I am very disappointed in this rejection by M R Snr, as everyone keeps pointing out the 29 year old Roberts Jnr has never done 9st in 19 fights. The Tartan Spartan that is Ronnie "The Shark" Clark offered a catch weight of 9-2 Roberts lightest however this again was rejected. If feel sorry for Jnr, he really has limited options now of testing himself. 9st would kill him, I know I made the mistake of trying to boil James Tennyson to that weight despite growing 2" in height in a year. Looks to me like a duck. No other explanation for it as far as I can see. Roberts has been a pro 6 years has had 19/20 fights and not one of they fights has been a meaningful contest in terms of competition. Here he's being offered a big fight and probably decent purse but they turn it down? What alternative plans do they have for him and what direction are they intending to take him? He won't get anywhere near British level at feather. I'd bet my weeks wages his next fight will be against another journeyman type. If he's not ready now he never will be. It's his career and if he wants to continue fighting mediocre opponents and not testing himself then that's up to him. He won't improve continuing to fight this calibre of opposition.

I feel sorry for Clark. He seems the type that will take on anyone. Hopefully his team find him a good opponent. Maybe an eliminator?

Thanks, he already has an eliminator under his belt in his last fight. His time will come. As for Roberts it is what it is.

Have they sparred before Mark?

I imagine so, Ronnie would help anyone out. A spar is a spar and a fight is just that.

Was just wondering if they'd perhaps sparred and that's maybe the reason Roberts doesn't fancy it is all...

I know nothing of Scottish boxing, but that Roberts fella needs to either shite or get off the pot.

What is his plan - get to 50-0 without facing a meaningful opponent or challenge for any titles ?

Roberts Snr is the equivalent to the Eubank Snr of Scottish Boxing,I could imagine Sam Kynoch pulling out his hair

They did spar I was there.. I think sparring is different to a fight although it does get in some fighters heads.. Some fighters are delusional and think they win every spar. I can promise Ronnie is the opposite very hard on himself..He has came out before saying he was terrible when hes proper bashed them up. Hes very grounded and if he is dominating spars he will ease off to let others work.. Something we disagree a lot on.. As for this fight I know what would happen and so does Mick snr... I think Michael would take the fight but in honesty his dad is right. Ronnie would stop Michael and badly.. Problem here is honesty.. Just say hes not fighting because hes a feather and we know he cant beat Ronnie. Would get loads more respect... I think it would also remove that fight from ever happening

I'd take Roberts to win on points. Ronnie is tough and should last the distance.

Doubt it. Roberts hasn't got any sort of power. From what I've seen of both Clark would have far too much for him.
