Announced via SkySports website that Jim has retired from commentating and will no longer be the voice on most SkySports shows!

Personally I'm thrilled with this announcement, sometimes his biased comments make me mute the TV. Behind his biased comments you know there is a vast amount of knowledge he has. Maybe we can hear this come through as he will no longer be held to any negative comments about a Matchroom fighter.

He was great in his day. Very honest and straightforward. He became more inconsistent in recent years, sometimes annoying me a great deal. The man knows an arm punch when he sees one

Anyone with half a brain will be delighted.

He was mind boggling at times and he often made me doubt myself. Good luck to the guy though. He hasn't had it easy and I hope he has a long happy retirement.

He used to be excellent, he's still decent enough but I think he's doing the right thing retiring now.

Will be interesting to see who Sky replace him with. Barry Jones is by far the best in the business right now (in the UK at least).

No, but he's insightful and at times erudite, you've got halling for the supposed drama, although he would impart drama to receiving an email from readers digest.

Happy as long as Froch isn't the new full time co-commentator. Now time for Halling to do the honourable thing.

He's like the character Alec Baldwin played in friends! 'Isn't this the most wonderful fight you've ever seen'

He's a top bloke is Watt and I enjoyed his commentary many times. Best of luck to him in retirement

He was excellent back in the day with Reg on ITV,he's had it tough recently and that could have had an affect on his work,a great replacement would be either Richie Woodhall or Barrie Jones,both top class,not sure Barrie would kiss enough ass though.

I don't think Barry Jones is very good and I would not like to see him move to Sky.

If Watt could have been persuaded to be a little bit more positive about the fights he was watching then people would be a lot less sick of him.

I like Jim Watt the person - but not the commentator.

He went through a spell of 2005-2012 when he was so f*cking negative I would have to turn the sound off.

That said, last year he went through that terrible thing with losing his daughter who was only 38 which must have knocked him sideways

I think jim has had a very difficult time in his family and that is very sad. He was an ok commentator but fair enough if he wants to retire now best of luck to him.

I hope they give the job to Paulie he is very good

Wish they'd told us this news before his last nights work so we could have had one more game of Jim Watt bingo.

Been bumbling along for years now, Watt has managed to drag it out longer than he should have, I don't blame him though as a SKY sports commentator is one of the best jobs in boxing but now it's happened I kind of feel sorry for him.

Maybe it's simply because I was comparing him to the shameless cheerleader Halling, but generally I didn't find him that bad.

I don't think Watt was as bad as people say. He used to be and to some extent still was one of the few who wouldn't just cheer lead like Halling and the other company men.

Also be careful what you wish for. They could replace him with someone worse alongside Halling. If that's the case I don't think I'll ever listen to sky commentary again.

I wouldn't be surprised if that tosser Paul Smith has been given the gig because Hearn has had a word with the sky honcho's which in turn would get Paul to retire. Watt probably hadn't even retired in truth but rather been told his contract wasn't getting renewed and to give him dignity they've let it seem like he's retired.
