Hope Ortiz can get the big fights cuz the guy is in my opinion the best HW today, just hope those other hws dont duck him forever.

He will be the ggg of the heavyweight division they will all wait till his older and showing weaknesses I predict fury will drop the belt if he beats Vlad and is mandated to fight Ortiz

What's so great about Ortiz? The best guy he's beaten so far is Thompson who is ranked #20 by BoxRec. Ustinov is #33. Let's see him fight a top ten guy first before you start going on about him being so great that Fury will be so scared of him that he will quit boxing rather than fight him.

Thompson is not the best guy Ortiz has beaten.

#7 ranked HW by The Ring magazine Bryant Jennings went the distance with Klitcsko in a horrible performance by Klitcsko.

Ortiz destroyed Jennings easly in 7 in Jennings very next fight, Jennings is a waaaaay better fighter than Thompson.

If you don't see the talent in Ortiz who is arguably the most skilled HW today then please get your eyes checked, that or you might wanna move on to another sport cuz boxing may not be for you.

Ortiz may be the best heavyweight today, not sure. I'm afraid we won't find out though. I think he has 2-3 good years left. If the winner of Fury/Wlad go a different direction, that will speak volumes. Hopefully he will get a shot at the title in the next year. Too bad a guy like him didn't turn pro about 5 years earlier.

Actually talking boxing yrs he's not old he turned pro late and unlike the smaller guys HWs usually go longer.

Ortiz in boxing yrs is no older than say GGG who is 34 but fights at a much smaller weight.

Actually thinking about it i give GGG less time than Ortiz, most smaller guys at 34 are almost done.

He's a drug cheat and he's only just started fighting decent opponents.

Why should he have had a shot at one of the big titles?

You only have to watch Ortiz to see how good he is. He's got skills to burn.

Problem is, Ortiz doesn't really have a following, and as a Cuban, isn't really likely to build one.

I think more than likely his career just peters out.

Oh trust me if a khazak can build a decent following a highly skilled HW with power certainly can.

Ortiz had about 350 amateur fights, losing 19 of them. He failed to even win the Cuban national championship 4 out of his 5 tries. He turned pro in 2010. His best win, (probably only really good win) was against Bryant Jennings.

I like his style, and think he is a top 5 heavy. Lets let him beat someone like Wilder, Joshua, Parker, Fury, or Wlad before saying he is the best out there. I hope he gets the chance to prove it.

That's no disgrace though considering Cuba has the best or atleast top 3 amateur teams in the world. I'd also imagine the Cuban amateur set up to be quite political with certain fighters favoured over others, quite like the Russian system.

One of the worse paper champions is heavyweight history, cashing out against someone who's a lot more popular than Ortiz, it's quite difference. Look how long it took for Tyson Fury to get his shot.

I wonder what George will say about Ortiz now that he pulled out of the Ustinov fight? Ustinov's team claim Ortiz pulled out, but wonder if there is more to the story.... If not, dumb move by Ortiz.
