1:39 * Norris seems to be having some difficulty seeing. It's not that he's bleeding all that badly but the location of the cut - over the eye - makes it a bit more serious. And talk about timing, the referee has stepped in and momentarily stopped the fight. He's looking at the cut above Norris's eye and is now leading him toward the ringside physician. 19:3
1:39 * The doctor is peering at the wound and he's shrugged his shoulders and he's shaking his head - is that a good thing or bad? Well, it's good from Norris's perspective and the cheer that arises from the crowd tells us all we need to know: there's going to be more fisticuffs in just a moment. Obviously, the damage isn't that bad and Norris and Liles await the signal from the referee to commence firing. The fight resumes here in Round 11. 19:3

2:25 Liles swings...and misses. 21:3
2:39 Liles misses wildly with the Hook. 21:3
2:54 Norris clinches nicely... but clinching doesn't score points. 21:3
3:00 Byrd separates the two fighters. 21:3
3:00 The seconds jump into action in Liles's corner as the bell sounds ending Round 11. 23:2

0:34 * And there is a cut! Not a surprise with these two banging heads like they are. 0:5
0:34 That cut is doesn't look overly severe but it does appear to be in a bad spot above the left eyebrow. Its location could impact the fight if that blood flows into the fighter's eye. 0:5
0:34 No fighter likes to see themself cut during a fight, let alone this early in the bout. 0:5
0:34 * Jones Jr seems to be having some difficulty seeing. It's not that he's bleeding all that badly but the location of the cut - over the eye - makes it a bit more serious. And talk about timing, the referee has stepped in and momentarily stopped the fight. He's looking at the cut above Jones Jr's eye and is now leading him toward the ringside physician. 0:5

1:30 The two fighters exchange blows and that shot has started the claret flowing stronger from the gash over Jones Jr's eyebrow. The cut is continuing to grow worse as additional punishment impacts on it. 4:14
1:30 Blood from a fighter in these early rounds can force a fighter to alter their strategy and change their style for the rest of the bout. 4:14
1:30 * Blood is trickling from the cut over Jones Jr's eye; it has to be impairing his vision somewhat and it's definitely bothering him if the amount of blinking he's doing is any indication. And it looks like . . . yes . . . Referee Salzgeber is notifying the timekeeper to stop the clock. He wants the doctor at ringside to take a look at Jones Jr's facial wound. 4:14
1:30 * The referee won't stop the fight on his own if the reason for the stoppage directly has to do with a cut or swelling; he'll always consult the ringside doctor. And it looks like, in this case, we're going to see some more boxing because the physician has given his okay to let the fight continue. That caught me by surprise. Usually one of the two scores an early knockdown and the other rallies back. They are 2-2-1 in their series...might as well have one more fight before the end of the season. Maybe week 40?

Calzaghe continues his great season. Perhaps Holyfield next week. At worst, he'll see him in the tourney...
