Assuming David Haye still intends fighting Shannon Briggs, why did he avoid him at the Frampton vs Santa Cruz fight?

Great photo opportunity went begging there.

Perhaps Haye has already abandoned the idea of fighting Briggs?

I think, in all probability that Haye is in discussions to face Tony Bellew for his WBC Crusierweight World title.

Either that or Haye is being considered as s voluntary defense for AJ.

Clearly he thinks that there's bigger fish to fry at box office.

Since Haye is a pussy and a lier, big talks, nothing else. Fought Gjergjaj and Mark de Mori, now wants a world titlefight? Lol!

With Ruslan Chagaev retired, Lucas Browne not being ranked by the WBA, coupled with the Ortiz-Ustinov bout probably being cancelled, then according to the WBA's rankings... David Haye is next in line to participate in their tournament... possibly gaining a shot at the WBA's regular title.

So he may decide against facing Briggs if there better opportunities for him to take.

Tony Bellew? At cruiserweight?! How anyone can see Haye going back down to cruiserweight is beyond me. He'd have to shave 20 lb's of muscle off to make the weight.

The only way for Haye to look forward now is to try manoeuvre himself into a mandatory position for one of the world title belts. Also considering his age, you'd think he'd be a bit more active. He's only managed 3 rounds in the last 7 months...

I think the Joshua theory is more plausible.

I cannot see Haye going back down to CW at 36 years of age, especially as he has been even bulkier of late.

A fight with Bellow would be a total waste of time & a distraction from Haye's ultimate goal of being an HW trinket holder again.

I think it might just have been a coincidence.

Haye is likely going to fight Briggs or some scrub of that level before he steps up in 2017.

I don't blame anyone for avoiding a face to face confrontation with the clown Briggs. Sit and listen to his tired ass chant of spit and Lets go champ 100 times. The guy is a joke looking for a payday. I'm no Haye fan but in this case don't blame him.

Haye isn't one to miss a marketing opportunity.
The way he avoided Briggs makes me think the fight isn't happening.

Haye is waiting to see what happens with the WBA.
The Browne fight is one he fancys but it would need to have some sort of title or eliminator attached to it.

To be fair to Briggs, Haye has courted him.

Haye was the one saying after his last f'ight' that Shannon has talked himself into a 'superfight' with David himself, so he's just as bad a Briggs!

If he backs out now, he looks even more of a chump than when he was courting the fight in the first place.

Haye probably has seen better options, and is no longer interested in fighting briggs.

A loss is allways a bad option indeed, but then don't guarantee it, it was Briggs who generated the money in his previous show, while Haye walked away with it with all kind of sad promises.

Briggs pretty much murdered his opponend in the first round, while that same guy went to distance against Haye his opponend.

It won't be at cruiserweight. Can't imagine haye could even make or would have the desire to make that weight again. It would be at some kind of catchweight where Bellew looks like he's bordering on being the world's most (or least depending on how you look at it) impressive 'skinny-fat' man.

Yes, no chance we see Haye looking like this again. The Bellew fight might be an option in the future IF Haye can pick up a belt.



I don't feel any sympathy for Briggs if this falls through, wasn't a fight I had any interest in.

Feel for Briggs in way he's done everything Hayes asked him to do past the Brian scan and fought on his undercard like he asked.now looks like he ain't getting the fight.

Don't feel bad for Briggs. He has no business in a fight at this level anymore. He hasn't beaten a Top 50 opponent in 8 years or more. At the very least he needs to beat somebody at least on the level of a Chisora or a David Price before he starts getting big money fights. The last time he was in against dangerous opponent he was beaten up so severely he spent a week or so in ICU.

Agree with what you say,haye should of said exactly what you said and not entertained Briggs but instead said pass brain scan fight on undercard and we can fight so why don't he stick by his word and fight the guy.

Briggs claims nobody dares, I heard even Eddie Hearns looked for a fight for him, but without succes. Chisora sounds like a good option though, if Haye indeed chickens out with his lies that make him rich.

The Ortiz-Ustinov bout has officially fallen through and Shannon Briggs has conceded that he won't be facing Haye in the near future.

Ortiz is apparently refusing the fight and trying to leave Golden Boy.

Therefore, based on the WBA's own rankings, I expect David Haye to somehow play some part in their tournament (Ustinov or Browne, maybe? Just a guess?).
