ITV set to launch PPV channel

Back in February the Daily Mail published an article stating:

"The channel is considering a new project which will see as many as 20 fight nights a year broadcast across their platforms. It is understood the dates will be split between ITV1 and ITV4 with additional plans for a separate pay-per-view channel also in the pipeline."

ITV have just landed a TV license to launch "ITV Box Office"

Interesting times. Looks like SKY and B0xnati0n aren't the only players in town.

Fvcking hell, boxing fans taking it in the pocket as per,i wish ITV would either show it on one of their normal channels or eff off,i mean there's not many shows we miss these days anyway,we've got on fine without them, they obviously see Sky fleecing us and want in on the action

Most of our top guys bar Frampton, Fury, Khan are all tied to a certain channel (Sky or BN). I take it this will be to challenge for the overseas shows and the domestic scraps? That being said anything worth watching domestically is usually on. I can't see anyone paying to watch the scraps as a PPV.

I suppose they could bid for any future Frampton, Fury, Khan fights...

Either way it's just more expense! Thank feck for Kodi

Depends on how much they charge; if only a few quid I would pay to see more boxing on the telly.

I'd much rather watch the smaller guys than the German shows that Sauerland put on

Yay, more ppv.
Real competition to rip us off, that's what we really need!

What's if they really got their toe in the domestic scene with a bit of a cross channel fight night. Say starting on ITV1 to hook the viewers, and then switching to ITV4 or vise versa. Really building a fighter. When he makes the grade for a title, we pay by he fee.

Are boxers over valuing themselves hence they need to rob us via PPV?

They will be offering a service; you don't have to purchase them so how are they ripping us off? If there is a really good competitive show on and I want to watch it I will. Nice to be given the opportunity to be honest; most of the best contests I have watched has been small hall shows.

Let's face it though, there's plenty of sub standard PPVs as it is. It might not be a really good show but one you do want to watch and you'll need to pay extra for the privilege. If you do pay its just more expense and if you don't you miss out.

You don't miss out as it wouldn't have been on regardless; at least this way we have a choice which IMO is good.

It's good to have more choice yeah. But if ITV are to outbid BN for a fight then BN subscribers are having to pay extra or miss out. I'm all for more choice but another PPV platform inevitably means more expense.

Will there be more quality shows?
Or the same number of quality shows and the same number of sub-stamdard shows with more people trying to charge us money for them?

Whether I choose to pay for them or not is immaterial to the debate. If I choose to pay for it, I now need to pay 3 major sports or boxing channels if I want to see the sport I love watching. If I want to see the very best contests, more and more will now fall under the ppv banner and the cost continues to spiral.

Or I can just use Kodi and be accused of not funding the sport and ripping of the fighters.

There will be the same number of shows, some of which will be PPV, I'm only paying for fights I think worthy of PPV these days, which isn't many.

Weren't the PBC set to do somethign over here or did I dream that? Maybe that could be this.

Or big Mick gone back to ITV (would only really be Fury I could see being ppv)

If thats the case I'd be happy with that I always liked the old way of having the undercard on ITV4 then the main event on prime time ITV....thats only good for the sport in my opinion if it comes with the very rare PPV I think it would be a price worth paying.

I'm the same. Used to always get all the PPVs but I've stopped. I'll be getting the GGG v Brook fight next month. I have Kodi but I'd rather see that without the interruptions.

I thought about getting a KODI box, but it seems a lot of potential hassle, and I do like Virgin media.

I'm on Virgin as well. I've just got a fire stick with the Kodi loaded on. I've still kept my BN subscription going though. It's good for fights on Sky which I've cancelled. Also any football.

The streams for British Sky on mine are very stop/start but there's always a few Croation streams which have always been spot on if you don't mind the Croation commentary lol. I watched the last PPV on it and it worked very well.

You also get most 3pm kick offs in the football on a Saturday
