Pacquaio picks Vargas

I think because we all wanted to see Pacquiao V Crawfordcaldo2025 wrote:why doesn't anyone have interest in this fight? Vargas's last two fights were very exciting and with the way he comes forward and the way Manny comes forward, this looks like a very nice matchup. This fight shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Arum will not allow Manny's remaining fights to be with anyone but Top Rank fighters. It was either he or TC and we know that fight needs more time to marinate and November is too soon. They will fight next year, probably May, if Manny beats Vargas.
I love Pacman and Crawford is one very talented young fighter some-one I think could give Pacman trouble but in the end I believe Pacmans experience and class will shine through but like I said I believe Crawford is one hell of a talent at this stage of his career Pacman don't need to be fighting some-one like Crawford who really isn't that well known outside of Boxing circle's the risk/reward ratio aint worth it I believe it would be a much bigger victory if he beat someone like Canelo who is a much much bigger name in sport in general and legacy wise beating Canelo would be on another level Pacman could sail off into the sunset with his legacy cemented for eternityReece_D wrote:I'll still watch with interest but its clear to see Pac wanted no part of Crawford. shame
I would certainly prefer Crawford, but Vargas is a belt holder rated #7 by boxrec. Berto is #15 who didn't in any way deserve a shot at Mayweather who had a bunch of Haymon boxers lined up ready to fight him.Badhusker wrote:As much crap as Floyd got for fighting Berto, I am surprised that Pacquiao isn't getting any for his choice of opponents. Bradley 3, then Vargas instead of Thurman or Crawford? Definitely taking the safe fights now it seems. Double standards and hypocrisy. Why even keep fighting if he isn't going to test himself against the best welterweights, or even the best Junior welterweight? Hell, I would rather see him vs Khan than this fight. Vargas was dominated by the guy Pac just beat fairly easily. I hope the cherry pick backfires.

The point is he would be fighting the guy that was dominated by Bradley. The 3rd Bradley fight definitely was not necessary. No point to it, other than it being a safe fight.IKSRTFO wrote:Badhusker wrote:As much crap as Floyd got for fighting Berto, I am surprised that Pacquiao isn't getting any for his choice of opponents. Bradley and Vargas are leagues better than Berto. Bradley hasn't lost to anyone not named Pacquiao. Vargas only lost to Bradley. Berto can't even beat Soto Karras took two tries to beat Ortiz.
FMJ beat Pac then faces Berto, Pac's comeback fight was Bradley. One was undefeated 48-0 claiming to be "the best ever" while the other has no such claims. See why most people aren't too bothered?Badhusker wrote:As much crap as Floyd got for fighting Berto, I am surprised that Pacquiao isn't getting any for his choice of opponents. Don't forget that Mayweather was the consensus number one at the time...something Manny is clearly not. No comparison really.digzee wrote:FMJ beat Pac then faces Berto, Pac's comeback fight was Bradley. One was undefeated 48-0 claiming to be "the best ever" while the other has no such claims. Look at Pacquiao's last 5 fights. Other than Floyd, he fights Bradley twice, Rios, and Algieri. That is what I am talking about. When Floyd was 38 he fought Pac, then Berto to end it. I would at least rate Rios and Algieri about the same level as Berto, who Floyd got so much crap about. People forget Floyd is almost 2 yrs older than Pac. Imagine if Floyd fought Algieri or Rios? Folks would have had even more of a shitfit than they had with Berto. Bradley, Rios, Algieri, now Vargas. All fairly feather fisted, and Vargas was dominated by Bradley. Waste of time fight which I hope backfires.punchoutsb wrote:Don't forget that Mayweather was the consensus number one at the time...something Manny is clearly not. Pac fought Rios after 2 losses so not exactly gonna blame him for that, yes the Algieri fight wasn't great but clearly Provodnikov was the fight they wanted but Algieri ruined those plans. How can you complain about him fighting Bradley? If PBF fought him he'd be in his top 5 opponents of his career. Pac doesn't have the options like PBF has had, plus Broner and Danny "swiftly avoiding every prime WW" Garcia priced themselves out.Badhusker wrote:Look at Pacquiao's last 5 fights. By your theory, the Thrilla in the Manilla shoudln't have happened as Frazier was thoroughly pummeled by Foreman who Ali beat.Badhusker wrote:The point is he would be fighting the guy that was dominated by Bradley. What is funny is that their first choice was Broner, for Manny's "comeback", but he priced himself out. Tell me now how many leagues ahead Broner is than Berto? Man, Pacquiao fans are so sensitive when they hear the truth. Arum will consider Crawford now because of all the crap he has heard with people being disappointed with the Vargas fight. Arum may be ready for his new cash cow.
