30 day weights: Golovkin 165 Brook 176

It was the official 30 day weigh in.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How do we know that Kel's weight is accurate, was it a public weigh in, or verified by the sanctioning body, that's seems awful heavy for a guy who fights at 147.
Seems par for the course for a lot of these fighters. Golovkin could fight lower if he wanted to. He is not a big MW. Should be interesting to see if there is much, if any of a size difference between these two when they face off. Hell, after seeing this, Kell may right be the bigger man come fight night.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How do we know that Kel's weight is accurate, was it a public weigh in, or verified by the sanctioning body, that's seems awful heavy for a guy who fights at 147.

I think most people that are predicting Brook to be KO'd are going by the form of GGG rather than Brooks skills as a fighter. GGG is such a formidable guy and bang in form. It's hard to make a case for anyone against him just now especially someone who's never fought at the weight.bigjack wrote:Impractical Poster wrote:Seems par for the course for a lot of these fighters. Kell has said from the time the fight was signed that he is a natural middleweight so maybe he is right after all,i'm wondering how people would be calling this fight if kell was a career middleweight,is it purely the size difference that is convincing most fans that he is going to get ko'd easily or do they think he doesn't have the skills ?
Yes, I agree, it's no knock on brook, but he's stepping up to a new weight class against the best in the business and one of the top in any weight. He doesn't have the skills to outbox him, or the punch to stop him. It'll be a one sided fight, short or long. I've never seen GGG look remotely hurt either.Stuarty30 wrote:I think most people that are predicting Brook to be KO'd are going by the form of GGG rather than Brooks skills as a fighter. I don't think I've ever even seen GGG mildly hurt? He seems to take big shots with no more than a blink.
He cuts a ton, I figured he'd be heavier.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How do we know that Kel's weight is accurate, was it a public weigh in, or verified by the sanctioning body, that's seems awful heavy for a guy who fights at 147.
I said from the off, I wouldn't be surprised if brook is heavier in the ring.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He cuts a ton, I figured he'd be heavier.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How do we know that Kel's weight is accurate, was it a public weigh in, or verified by the sanctioning body, that's seems awful heavy for a guy who fights at 147.
That can't be good for you to be taking off so much weight. I know cutting weight is commonplace, but he does seem to be on the high end. Even at 176 he doesn't look like there's anything spare, so he must be seriously dehydrating to lose the rest of that weight.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He cuts a ton, I figured he'd be heavier.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How do we know that Kel's weight is accurate, was it a public weigh in, or verified by the sanctioning body, that's seems awful heavy for a guy who fights at 147.
It isn't, but he's young enough to handle it. I don't think he should ever go back down to 47.jamesmcdonnell wrote:That can't be good for you to be taking off so much weight. Which is why he'll never accomplish half what Golovkin has. Even at Welterweight or 154.jamesmcdonnell wrote:That can't be good for you to be taking off so much weight. Yeah. He's not as talented either.Counter-puncher wrote:I think there's a rather more elemental reason he wont achieve what GGG will
Yes, he's not as good.Counter-puncher wrote:I think there's a rather more elemental reason he wont achieve what GGG will
I know those Rubio figures are accurate, but I've never heard the 175lb vs Wade figure before - do you have a source? I know GGG was 170lb on fight night against Monroe, which is nearer his normal fighting weight. I agree that GGG is likely dehydrating for his 30 day weigh-ins.Enlightened-One wrote:Golovkin’s 30-day weigh-in for the Marco Antonio Rubio fight was 165lbs and his ring weight had risen to 173lbs come fight night, according to HBO’s scales.
Golovkin’s 30-day weigh-in for the Dominic Wade fight was 164lbs and his ring weight had risen to 175lbs come fight night, according to HBO’s scales.
Carl Froch’s weight at the start of his training camp for the Ward fight was 175lbs.
Andre Ward’s ring weight for the Chad Dawson fight was 176lbs.
That wouldn't be the way to do it.Badhusker wrote:It could be that Brook isn't very disciplined about managing his weight. (assuming He was heavier yet to begin with) He is ok still though, losing half pound a day is very doable.
