I like this fight but I have a strong feeling that Jacobs would ask for more money to price himself out, same old shIt, different fighter.

What we’ll probably end up seeing, are reports in the media, probably originally sourced by Dan Rafael, quoting “substantial” offers submitted by K2 to Daniel Jacobs, “rumoured” to be around the $4m mark.

For some “strange” reason, K2’s “substantial” offer will swiftly be rejected, with Daniel Jacobs or his representatives claiming that the sum of money being offered to them was insufficient – around the $1.5m mark (or even less).

GGG’s fans will automatically believe K2’s version of events (without paying attention to the Kazakh’s typical paydays) and the “everyone is scared” or “everyone is ducking” Golovkin myth will continue to be perpetuated.

We’ll then continue hearing the “it’s not GGG’s fault” chants ringing in our ears as the automatic defence mechanism employed by Golovkin’s fans to address the flaws in his resume.

To be honest, the IBF ordered Golovkin to face Wade and Haymon allowed his charge to face GGG on HBO. However, Jacobs is a bigger name, so Haymon may not allow Jacobs to fight on HBO – as the big name guys from the Haymon stable very rarely compete on HBO.

Yeah, this fight won't happen this year from whatever reason. GGG would probably face one of his mandatory challengers.What makes it kind of ironic is that Jacobs is one of GGG's mandatories beside Heiland and Tureano.

Admittedly, i'm a GGG guy and think that he's the best that i've ever seen. But this is the matchup that i've been thinking could be the toughest fight out there for GGG. Jacobs is a true Middleweight with the reach and power that i think could hang with GGG. For some reason, I find this fight to be intriguing. I hope that they can work out the speed bumps and make it happen.

You are probably correct. GGG is a monster, no doubt. Lemieux has excellent power but he just had no shot of landing anything against GGG due to his size and lack of reach. Jacobs will be hitting down at his target with GGG and thus generating more of a descending blow which makes me think that he's got a better shot to land something that we've not seen landed on GGG. Physically, Jacobs has a better chance at success than anyone else before him so that's why i think that he's the best available option for a competitive fight. But i'd definitely not bet against your opinion as you are probably right.

The Mora KD was BS. Jacobs came in both hands at his hips.
Got caught. Won the rest of the round. And was more angry at himself than anything.

I really hope this fight comes off.
Proves that you can get top guys out of the PBC.
Proves that if you cut this political nonsense, there are opponents in every weight class.

Jacobs uses a defense that allows his opponent to get off a lot of punches.
He doesn't really rely on his feet so he has to block a lot of punches,
and since his defense is stationary, his body is there also.
You can't beat GGG like that.
His punches make your arms slowly move out the way.

To his credit though, Jacobs has good/great counter punching power.
His counters are short and usually hurt when landed flush.

Thinking GGG will win ...
But if this fight gets made, I wouldn't care about the result, just watching the fight would be enough ...

DJ has the size speed and skill to make a damn good fight with GGG, and has a recent win that dwarfs any win Golovkin has, and he did it in a single round. The chin factor is huge though, that is the biggest disparity between them. Because GGG's is iron, not many can compare to that. DJ certainly doesn't have a glass jaw or it'd have surfaced by now. That flash knockdown when he thought he had Mora hurt? hands down wide open, that was a mental mistake nothing more. He got up fine and beat the guy's ass. Unfortunately an injury robbed him of the knockout. The knockout we'll see soon when they fight again.

Jacobs would be the best opponent GGG has faced, and though I think Golovkin would win it'd be a competitive fight with a lot of action. It's a better match up than Brook, Wade, Monroe, Rubio, or whatever else we've been fed.

Who tested Jacobs ' chin though? Are there examples of him taking clean shots from solid hitters without being fazed? PQ is the only big puncher he faced, but he never got hit with anything serious.

Aside from being flattened by average hitting Pirog, dropped by light hitting Mora, and rocked twice by blown up Smith, DJ was hurt/dropped several times in the amateurs. Hes improved and is one of the best out there at 160, but he's shown signs of a questionable chin for years and I think he'd get stopped quickly and heavily once GGG started landing.

They're not looking past Brook.

I think that you are likely correct. However, if Jacobs comes out to kill or be killed in round 1, he has an outside chance.

If you follow the sport and can remember what you had for breakfast, then you would know that Pirog was ready to face GGG in 2012 on HBO.
Was supposed to be Pirog vs Geale, Sturm threw more money at Geale(to get out of defending against GGG) and Golovkin stepped in as a replacement opponent. Pirog was cool with it.
Here's where you say Pirog's back injury and insinuate that it was just an excuse to duck that fight.
That would have to go down in history as world's longest duck since Pirog hasn't fought since then.

Quillin is NOT close to Pirog's level. He is somewhere between Rosado and Lee levels. His best win is N'Dam -- the one who was just humiliated in Olympics.
