Let's say that Danny does beat Tyson....

Is he capable of beating someone like Chris Byrd or Vitali Klitschko?

Could he beat Vladimir or John Ruiz?

Would David Tua be too much to ask?

Who else is there?

Let us not get carried away with ourselves here.

Chris Byrd - I'd say Byrd would be too cute for him, but he's not looked too clever recently. Still a 'no' though, IMO.

Vitali Klitschko - Can't see it.

Vladimir - Yep. Whether it because he burns out quickly, or because his chin is poor, he's shown that he is very beatable

John Ruiz - Yes, but there are plenty of people out there who should beat Ruiz, but not many of them have managed.

David Tua - Tua's head doesn't seem to be in the game at the moment, and he was slowing down the last time I watched him. Again, my gut instinct still says no.

Winner of the Brewster/Meehan fight - Yes

Of course, the thing with Danny is that he's perfectly capable of loosing to all of those guys, too.

He'd be even money in a Ruiz fight.

The best of Danny Williams would put him in the mix, but I would question his ability to 'get-to' Vitaly Klitschko or someone as slick as Byrd or Gomez.

I'd back him against Brewster, who is durable but beatable as defeats to Etienne and Shufford testify. And of course Danny does have decent hand-speed so somebody as predictable as McCline would also be feasible.

Others like Oquendo represent winnable fights.

However, this is based on the all TOO fleeting utopia of a 'best-version' of Williams because at worst he's a Kirk Johnson type of flop.

It's irrelavent now as it seems pretty certain that Danny is going to try and mix it with Tyson on friday night.

According to who?

According to the man himself? Unless I've missed something, I don't recall anyone anywhere saying Danny Williams is going to be smart and get on his bike.

Well thankfully I've just read a quote where Williams says this fight for him is going to be about jabbing and moving.

I just hope he does it a lot quicker than we've seen him do to date.

Jabbing moving, and chucking the right hand straight 'down the pipe' is what he should do. Danny isn't a good enough mover to stick and move against Mike. He's got to take a little out of Tyson's desire to close the gap.

But are you telling me that the right hand of Danny Williams is enough to stop Tyson advancing? I'll be absolutely amazed if this happens.

At his best, Danny would have a chance against Brewster and Ruiz. Vitali is too big and strong, and Byrd is too good technically.

Whether he mixes it or boxes is irrelevant. He's not in Tysons league.

Danny Williams is one of the most overrated fighters in Britain.

disagree dont think its all that closed a matter, not by a long shot.
the basic possible permutations are are pretty dispertate though, Tyson early or we got a major upset on our hands.
IUf williams doesnt crumble in the first few I still maintain tyson is 3 round fighter and has been for years now. Get past 3 rounds I reckons it a real 50/50- fight.

Well logic surely says (although nobody quite knows how good or bad Tyson will be on the night) that Danny's only chance of survivng the opening 2-3 rounds is to get on his bike big time and do his best to avoid the cricket-bowler right hands that Tyson will be hurling in his direction.

Look, let's be realistic, Tyson is a 38 year old, inactive fighter, with indifferent training habits, and a less than spartan lifestyle. Just how much is needed to stop him advancing, maybe not that much.

I don't know the answer to this, but at his age and with his recent form, Tyson could be completely and utterly shot.

This might well apply to round 4 onwards, but I can't believe in a million years we'll see Tyson stopped in his tracks by Danny Williams any earlier than that. Just let the guy practice his bowling technique while he's fresh, I can't possibly last, why not be as fresh as possible yourself when it's time to mount your attack?

TYSON IS TOTALLY SHOT. TOTALLY.

Williams SHOULD win this fight. He just has to get past the third round, from there he's in the box seat.

BUT THE POINT IS WILLIAMS IS SHOT, COMPLETELEY SHOT. HE IS ABSOLUTELEY TERRIBLE. HE IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.

EVERYONE IS SAYING HOW SHOT TYSON IS. TYSON HAS MORE IN THE TANK THAN WILLIAMS.

To sum it up,

He couldnt clearly beat Michael Sprott....
