At this point, Saunders said the fight against Eubank Jr. can happen as long as he agrees to an 80-20 split of the loot for the fight.

Saunders has quite a record of losing out on big fights lately with him reportedly not agreeing to the offer from Gennady Golovkin, and then turning down a fight against Gabriel Rosado, Curtis Stevens and Willie Monroe Jr. for the Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Liam Smith card on September 17 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas

This fight probably won’t happen for three reasons:
• Both fighters are with opposing promoters that don’t usually work together (i.e. Warren vs. Hearn)
• Both fighters have their fights televised by rival networks (i.e. Sky vs. Box-Nation)
• 20% is a derisory offer, since Eubank Jr. is arguably a bigger name in the UK

Eubank Jr. only managed to walk away from Hearn the last time due to the fact he lost a purse bid, which broke the terms of their contract and I’d doubt that Eddie would willingly let me go again.

So basically saunders doesn't want the fight. He knows damned well he won't get that split.

Fact is, that this is probably, outside of a GGG or Cotto fight, the next biggest event. 70-30 perhaps, 60-40, I reckon he'd get a deal.

The Saunders-Eubank Jr. fight cannot be negotiated without the involvement of Sky, Matchroom, Warren, Eubank Sr. and MGM management.

Billy Joe Saunders’ attempt to negotiate the terms of a fight with Eubank Jr. using social media is merely a publicity stunt.

I really don’t think the bout can be made for political reasons, unless the WBO makes Eubank Jr. the mandatory challenger to Saunders title and the fight goes to purse bids.

I remember that was a large part of the reason I stopped writing about it, the keeping up with the intricacies of boxing politics used to make my head hurt, and I realised I spent more time writing about networks, promoters, and the negotiations for fights, and fights falling through, than I did fights themselves.

I think that’s the reason why many people that use this forum don’t have a lot of free time to follow boxing’s political landscape or what is said by whom and when.

It seems that most people automatically dislike certain fighters, promoters, managers etc. simply because it’s human nature to “fear” or “hate” anything that they don’t understand?

It’s easier for casual fans to cite “cowardice” or “greed” as the main reasons why some of the biggest fights don’t happen than to actually research the matter, which admittedly takes bloody ages to do.

Finally, a lot of the decision-makers involved in the sport are largely ignored by the media. So when decisions are made that fight fans don’t like, it’s far easier for casuals to assign all the blame on the fighters themselves instead of the people that have the final say.

That’s the reason why it’s frustrating to see so many double-standards and blatant hypocrisy when observing blindly loyal fight fans supporting favourite fighters at all cost. They simply don’t have the time or inclination to research or understand boxing’s political landscape, so all we see is an awful lot of hatred amongst fight fans when discussing our beloved sport.

As you say, it's human nature to identify someone as the villain of the piece, because nuances are harder to read and follow.

You could re-word that to arguably the bigger name in the world, also, some may not argue that it's even arguable.

Saunders just doesn't want to fight Eubank who improved and will definitely kick Billy's a$$ this time.
