With Nicola Adams winning Olympic gold twice (1 in London) & the high take up in female amateur boxing... It seems the crossover aint happening

Women's boxing is grim

It's a good thing there aren't. I'm still not comfortable with the concept.

It's hard for people to get excited about Women's Boxing because the skill level is so vastly lower than the the Men in most cases. I've only ever seen a handful of Women Boxers who looked like they had anywhere near the kinda skills exhibited by Male boxers. Most of 'em look like they're throwing baseballs or something when they punch.

Hope it stays that way! It's not a woman's sport imo!

If females want to box then they should be perfectly free to do so. I'd be happy for my own daughter to do it and I take her in the pads occasionally. However, professional sport relies upon demand and I don't think there is a great demand to see women fight. I certainly don't have any interest in watching women hurt each other.

Could'nt really care less , no interest , don't like it , don't want to watch it ,Only woman i've ever watched fighting is my missis , I've watched her many a time , through a good cross arm defence , while she flails away at me ,, and i would disqualfiy her anyway , she cheats , actually hit me with a tin of beans once , and when i took a knee she stuck the boot in ,, true story that ,, so not interested , in women fighting

Anyway modern day men , with there pc correctness , handbags and hair buns , have enough problems knowing there role in life , they don't need women who can fight , confusing them any more

most of them are lesbos, like adams. i know were all supposed to accept that kind of thing but watching butch girls hit each other ísnt really interesting. its only when you get a foxy boxer that it's worth watching.

It'll probably just take time. Looking at how poor the pro competition is, is there even a reason for them to go pro? I guess it needs to reach a critical mass where there is enough competition at pro to make it worthwhile to go pro, thus raising the competition.

Maybe that's the problem. There is the supply. But there is no demand.

Some very good female boxers out there, like Kentikian, Braekhus, Fujioka, Juarez, Bopp, Ortiz, Hawton and Choi...just not taken off here but globally there is talented fighters, maybe just need a break out bout.

The recent fight with Heather Hardy was pretty good and got some TV exposure.

And the media desperately wants it not to be a problem. Look at how much more coverage women's football is getting due to pc correctness.

I enjoy watching women fight, when they're good, some of the women fighting in MMA are right vicious bastards.

Hell I'd probably watch cripples fight bears, or Steven Hawking against a vending machine.

In seriousness I've no problem with women fighting,. never have done, women are a hell of a lot tougher than people think, how do you think humans survived for hundreds of thousands of years, women had to be tough too.

I think the fact that MMA has far more women fighters than boxing, shows more about the backward looking nature of boxing, and perhaps it's fans than anything.

Women's boxing appears to be a bit of a tabboo in the UK. Adams is getting exposure due to the Olympics but there is no point her turning g pro as it would effectively mean her getting a pay cut.

If Marshall or someone chose to turn pro they would be better of signing with the Sauerlands and fighting on an undercard on the continent, where women's boxing seems to be more accepted.

I wouldn't want to see it, just like I wouldn't want to watch men mud wrestle, well not everyday.

Yeah, don't think women's boxing is particularly big anywhere, there was a flurry of interest around the time of Christy Martin and Laila Ali, but since then, it's died a death.

If I was a woman into combat sports, and wanted to turn pro, I'd go into MMA where there are opportunities. Boxing is a bit of a dead end.

Doesn't bother me if people want to do it, but I have no desire to watch it due to it generally being a pretty poor watch.

Same with women's football, some of the skills on show are worse than I'd see down on the park on a Sunday pub match. They can televise it all they want, but it doesn't stop it generally being shite compared to the men's game.

Decent female boxers are wiser to stay in the ams. If they're going to make any money it will be there with tax funded support not crossing their finger on ticket sales. Nicola will be making more money than 90% plus of the male pros in the UK.
