Lucas Browne was stripped of the belt he won from Ruslan Chagaev last March in Grozny after testing positive for clenbuterol.

Browne has protested his innocence despite receiving a 6 month ban from the WBA and will be re-introduced at the end of this period on the back of legal protest.

Browne will also be handed an immediate title shot against Fres Oquendo after Oquendo won a separate ruling himself to gain a second chance at the title.

The official resolution from August 8 when Browne's court action came to the fore, along with the WBA's six-point decision reads as follows:

All that's left for Browne is to agree terms with Fres Oquendo, who is back in tentative training for his opportunity.

"We are still waiting for WBA to finalize everything. Fres is going to the doctor this week. He is back running and doing light boxing but the time-frame will be important," Oquendo's manager Tom Tsatas said.

Rumours David Haye could step in for Oquendo if he's not ready had been refuted by Browne's lawyer Leon Margules.

So in a nutshell the WBA have:

Modified their prior decision regarding Lucas Browne.

Allowed Browne to retain his top 5 WBA rating.

Determined it is unlikely Browne intentionally or voluntarily consumed the Clenbuterol in a single, small dose in the days leading up to the bout.

Determined Browne would not have gained any advantage from the Clenbuterol consumed.

Reiterated the doubts about drugs and drug testing in Russia.

Determined the title is now vacant.

Determined that within 120 days Browne will fight Oquendo for the vacant title.

If for any reason Oquendo is unable to fight Browne, Browne will instead fight the leading, available contender for the vacant title.
