There is no need for discussion about the best CW ever - every normal persons would agree. Of course, his name is Evander Holyfield.

The number 2 could be questionable, but I will vote for David Haye.

Juan Carlos Gomez could have unified the 4 belt's if given his chance in the latish 90's was only really troubled when meeting bigger men at Heavyweight at cruiserweight he never lost a fight Another cruiser I like d was Carlos De Leon i'm not saying he was the 2nd best cruiser behind Holy but he did win and loss the cruiserweight Title 4 time's nearly matching P4P king Sugar Ray Robinson and don't no-one even bother start saying i'm trying to compare De leon too SRR because i'm not

I was always a fan of Johnny Nelson. I always thought that he went about his business in an understated way. I don't think he's number 2 right behind Evander, but I do think he's a contender for the top 5 - and a safe, certainty bet for the top 10.

My number 2 - has to be David Haye. It wasn't just what he did, it was the way that he did it. KO'ing quality opponents left, right and centre.

Are Enzo, Gurov, Mormeck, and Fragomeni the quality opponents Haye knocked out? Incidentally, the last two fights, especially the Mormeck bout, were quite entertaining and Haye showed grit in winning those.

Yes, well certainly three of them anyway.

Mormeck, what can you say about him? Was probably the top ranked Cruiserweight in the world after beating O'Neil Bell. Then he bumped in to Haye and David knocked him out in his own back yard.

Maccarinelli - I confess that I put a bet on him defeating Haye. Because Enzo was looking like a wrecking machine when he was the Champ, back in 2007 (I think it was). Haye absolutely devastated him, it was some performance and maybe the greatest way to underline his credential as the best fighter of his weight class.

Fragomeni was unbeaten going in to the fight against Haye and was considered one of the better fighters in Europe of his weight class. He would later go on to become a World Champion at Cruiserweight.

Others stayed around longer & cemented more of a legacy, but I don't think any other CW other than Holyfield would have beaten Haye.

I don't see that Holyfield would have beaten Haye... His speed, power, and skills are levels past Holy.

Fair point.

It's shame they never had a rematch because Haye learnt a lot from that defeat & improved massively after that.

Anaclet Wamba was also good cruiser.

Going to be unpopular...especially amongst Brit fans who recall the sleep-fest against Nelson....but Carlos De Leon did manage a long old reign as a WBC champ and probably needs to be grudingly name-checked as a 'notable other.'

Resume I'd say Huck, fighter I'd say qawi or toney.

Gave it a good shake at heavyweight as well....plenty think he beat Mesi and deserved to take Joe's O.

Herbie Hide should have stayed at CW; he would have been a beast.

They were certainly better than these guys. I guess you could argue that Toney did not have enough fights there.

I'm lways cautious about ranking Toney anything above Super Middleweight, because of the evidence of him taking PEDs in the John Ruiz fight.
